Eurobricks Reveals LEGO Star Wars 2014 Set Images

Brickadeer over at Eurobricks posted some images of the upcoming January 2014 LEGO Star Wars sets. No price or piece count information is available yet, but there are other things that can be gleaned from the images. LEGO, in a continuous effort to create projectile weapons to shoot at your eyes, are introducing blasters that shoot 1x1 round plates AND spring loaded missiles that look to be a replacement for the much-panned flick fire ones that have plagued Star Wars sets for years.

One other notable item to be gleaned from the images is art for Plo Koon from set 75054. He appears to be holding a glowing lightsaber. I am unsure if this is just artistic license or if the lightsaber will actually glow. Light Up Lightsaber II? We'll see.

I don't think Plo's lightsaber will glow. He is holding it in his left hand in the main image but his right hand in the inset, so unless Lego has some rather advanced microtechnology, it's probably just artistic license.

Finally the Deathstar gunner. I passed up on a nice custom version a couple years ago, and have been waiting ever since so I wouldn't regret not getting the custom.

All prequel sets and related are a pass.

Zucuss and 4-Lom by 2017 please!

I want to see a close-up image of that new chewbacca in the droid gunship set! Also, I second the call for a Zucuss & 4Lom.

Wonder how the airborne helmets will stack up to Arealight's.

Well on the plus side a bunch of battle packs being the only things taking my interest isn't gonna hurt the wallet so much, but I really don't like those marshmallow-guns all the figs have now :(

I would also love to see a 4LOM and Zuckuss, probably my most desired release after a UCS Mos Eisley Cantina. The rumored UCS Slave 1 would be the perfect place to include the bounty hunter duo...

usc slave 1 will hurt my wallet pretty badly. on the plus side Lego seems to be doing more 20 to 40 dollar sets and less 100 to 150 dollar sets and thats something that makes the decsion to buy much much easier.

V-wing looks terrible and I really dislike the new closed clone helmets. I understand having it that way means you can give the figures faces, but compared to the original ep III helmets these look like utter garbage. The exception being the Commander Neyo looking guy, he's pretty cool.
And the continued variation in colour schemes is quite cool too, I suppose. I think I'll have to hit up Arealight for some more custom helmets though.

Droid gunship looks fairly impressive. Obi Wan looks to clone warsy for what shouldn't be a clone wars set. Vulture droid seems decent, of not slightly pointless (I swear we've nearly had as many of these as we have X-Wings). Everything else looks mostly meh. Including the set I'll be buying two or three of so I can get some Death Star gunners.

Also, hasn't a UCS Slave I been rumoured just about every year for the last 3 or 4?

http://www.hothbricks.com/ has a closeup of Chewie - they also have an image of Anakin's Jedi Interceptor (missing from this selection)

It wasn't until I read this post that i realized that there is only one OT set. if i didn't have my completionist mindset, 2014 would have been a very cheap year.

Would I be right in saying almost every one of these sets (aside from battlepacks) have been released at some point in the last three or so years? Seems to be becoming more frequent IMO.

Those battlepacks look awesome, especially the Deat Star Troopers. The rest is kinda meh. Well, the wallet will be happy in the year ahead, at least.

This is really quite awesome! Some i will be parting out like the cannon and some i will be rebuilding like the awful V-wing (normally my fave fighter if not for the horrible builds) and also the speederbike. The new grass element is going to see a lot of use in MOCs. I hope they didn't make the droid gunship need a pilot again. It's my belief if it has its own eyes, it doesn't need a pilot. No vulture droid ever had one, why tanks and the gunship? AATs & MMTs, sure, those are driven. Some sets appear to have been given a royal treatment which I'm sure will jack up the price, like Anakin's starfighter. I may still get it if i'm not getting too many battlepacks. Who thinks these will be released before xmas to help drive sales? I bet we get a few, and maybe a bunch of the Lego Movie sets too.

Thank goodness we got another
Spoiler: show
effin'
Jedi Interceptor because we certainly needed another one of those.

Looks like a bunch of sets targeting kiddies that a) don't understand value b) love flick- fires and c) want to stockpile cewl minifigs.

I've seen regular ideas, not-so-good ideas, bad ideas, terrible ideas...

and now LEGO comes with spring-loaded missiles AND firing blasters in the same wave.

I hope you're wrong about glowing lightsabers II.

I'm only interested in the Death Star Troopers, the Cannon and the Gunship. Maybe the AT-AP. Still, will have to wait until better pics come out of the actual sets to make a decision.
And those new blasters look really lame.
