10237 Tower of Orthanc

Update: Video has been added below the picture thumbnails.

LEGO officially unveils their latest UCS set, 10237 Tower of Orthanc. The set sees an additional Great Eagle which was thought to be only available in 79007 Battle At The Black Gate. An Ent is also included, though he is not named, which begs the question, where are the Ent battle packs? It may not be as grandiose as OneLUG's The Last March of the Ents, but given the price, the scale, the detailed interior, and play features, it looks to be a GREAT set. Plus, I think it's kinda cute. More images and official press release below. Video will be added as soon as I get it.

Totally stoked about this one. Cannot wait to add it to the shelf next to the Death Star. I think it is a great compromise of playability and size without making the price to outrageous. And the sheer number of black pieces is going to be crazy! Hope they don't number the bags and we have to sort through a giant pile of same colored bricks. Haha. It would take days to finish! :D

Seeing the designers sitting next to the tower makes me realize how big and beautiful it is. Looks like a great set!

Looks pretty awesome. If only I had a bigger house! I wish they would have included a few more Urak-Hai. What's the tower without an Urak-Hai army?!?! :S Still, pretty cool looking set.

Wow! What an awesome set. I haven't picked up any of the LOTR sets yet (though not for lack of interest) but this is a must buy

Wow! Nicely done, LEGO.

Definitely liking this wave 3 a lot more - other than Bag End, the other LOTR sets were mediocre in my opinion. Thankfully I don't feel compelled to complete the entire collection, but this is a must have. It's going to be an expensive summer!

This set is ideal. Fun play elements, but not over the top. Great Design, pretty good minifigure assortment, and tons of great pieces for MOCs. I can't wait to buy THIS.

Would have been nice if it had a back wall, but I feel like a fool lodging any kind of complaint against this, it is just too awesome. Not that I'll ever be able to afford it, of course. :'(

this is pretty sweet. I wish it came with a few more uruk hai and ents for the price tag, but it's really not about the figures now is it.

i dont want to be petty - but the ents are not allies of the free people - they are only retaliating tot he destruction of the forest

One of the best overall sets I have seen in a while. Looks good, has some nice playability and good parts/$ ratio. For those that want more minifigs, that's what the uruk-hai army sets are for. LEGO has to make some of their money back, so your stuck paying $13-15 for a handful of MFs.
If I collected LOTR, I would get it, but I'll probably pass.

I remember watching the video a while back. Impressive. Looks like an official version of OneLUG's model (which I've seen in person, by the way... pictures don't do it justice).

Very, very tempting. The inside is a tad skimpy (very official LEGO-and-all) but the outside looks BAM!

Dig the Ent and the mini-figs.

I do NOT want to like this LOTR stuff, but they keep making better sets with fantastic mini-figs. Argh!

No space. No time. No money.

jeez

I'm suddenly reminded of how impressed I was (and still am) with Dunechaser's LOTR figs.

EDIT:  I just finally caught the price. Woah! All that for only 200 USD!? I suddenly feel like it's 1999 again.

You're killing me LEGO.
