SW Planet Sets Series 3 showing up in stores.

Postby DarthBuilder » Tue Jan 01, 2013 9:20 am

Target.com has LEGO Star Wars Bomber and Asteroid 75008 listed as available in stores for $9.99, not available online. After checking the store finder it says that my closest store has them in stock. 75008 is the only one posted at Target so more to come.

Cool! Supposedly a store local to me has them in stock, too. I'm going to piece together a little Falcon and display this "planet" with it and call it Alderaan.

Why is it that the Falcon always ran into asteroids? In Star Wars it was Alderaan, in Empire it was a 3,720-to-1 odds. I've often read and heard Lucas say the movies have to "rhyme", that there should be similar elements in all of them. I think we're all hoping the new movies resonate more with the middle chapters rather than the prequels. Can't say I want to see the Ford, Fisher, and Hamill, though. :(

But back on topic - I'm glad the models of these TIEs don't use any visible blue elements.

Lies!!!

Nothing within 200 miles of me has these in stock!

Okay...maybe 3 stores within 94 miles of me do have limited stock, but still...

After doing some investigating today I found out that this item is incorrectly linked to the Endor At-St planet set in their inventory system.

That stinks, looking at it further you can tell that when you "find a store" the DPCI: 204-00-0213 even matches. To quote emmtwosix "LIES!!!" Target.com why have you forsaken me >:( I was going to swing in this weekend to grab one. Oh well.

Haven't seen these yet, but I spotted a lone Clone Trooper battle pack on the shelf at Target last night.

Went to a Target that supposedly had these in stock. They won't be out on the shelves until next tues or weds when they redo all of the Lego stuff, at least that's what I was told. I was able to pick up a 75002 AT-RT which I spied in a shopping cart full of random stuff, somehow it accidentally got out of the back stockroom. :-) Looks like a really cool set.

edit- Target has not had these

I think what they should have done is molded the sphere in a smoky translucent grey/black plastic with the asteroid deco printed on the outside, then, using a pair of clear round bricks inside the lower hemisphere, mount the model on the INSIDE as if navigating the asteroid field.

Just noticed bn.com has the SW Planet Series 3 up for Pre-order with an available date of March 28 and for $9.85. Free Shipping over $25. All sounds good but whats odd is that they also have current 2013 sets for pre-order that are in stores today? Anyhow, will have to wait and see if Target truly stocks 75008 sometime next week as Margot was told.

I'm curious to know why the regular sets and planet sets are now being released at separate times.

Is it a marketing move, product manufacturing issue, or something else?

The Series 3 Planet sets have disappeared. If you select the links provided in my previous post the items are shown but now have a status of "not currently available" and cannot be added to cart. My pre-order still looks like its being honored, maybe the ran out of their allotment. Anyone else take advantage?

You can order this from Target now. I ordered 2 last week and they are the correct item.
