LEGO Reveals 10232 Palace Cinema

A few days ago, the next modular building was revealed (possibly leaked) and was making the rounds on some other LEGO fan sites. Looks like there are now some decent pictures available on motayan's photostream.

Today, at BrickFair, Kevin Hinkle is unveiling the latest modular building in the series 10232 Palace Cinema. This set was leaked weeks ago but we now have official images and other release information. The set will have 2,194 pieces and will cost US $149.99 / CA $199.99 / DE 139,99€ / UK 119.99 £ / DK 1,099.00 DKK. You can buy this set from LEGO Shop@Home beginning March 2013. You can view the full set of pictures in the 10232 Palace Cinema image gallery. They score points for building design, but that limo. Should we expect all cars in the modular building series to be open-top/convertibles? First the fire engine, now this limo. And how about a corner gas station/convenience store already?

I'm glad to see that TLG is comfortable coming back down to a $150 price point after knocking the Town Hall up to $200. Hopefully they'll throw in the odd larger building in future (or even smaller building), but try to keep the general price around $150.

Looks amazing, but I'm not a huge fan of the B&W cinema screen (or the stickers). It needs to be modded to house an iPod Touch, (which I'd be tempted to get purely to slot into the cinema).

I don't usually get the Modular builds, but this one fits too well in my Living room. We have our living room based around old black and white movies. Can't wait for March.

Last year's Haunted House is one of my favorite sets of all time, so I'm super exited for this one to come out! Plus, the $150 price tag is quite reasonable.

I completely agree -the haunted house rules! I was looking foward to it since we got the quick glimpse early in the year and was at the Lego store first thing on Sep 1 when it came out.
The Cinema is my first must have of this year and I will be at the Lego store as soon as its available. Can't complain about the price point and love that it'll be out in March

Anyone ever see the documentary "Confessions of a Superhero"? It's still available as of today on Netflix streaming. It relates the oftentimes sad story of the folks dressed in pop-character costumes that work for tips in front of the Chinese theater on Hollywood Boulevard.

This set brings to my mind that documentary. And there's a weird synergy with the superhero minifigs available, now. It'd make an interesting scene to have the photographer in this set playing tourist, instead, and taking pictures of his kids with superheroes in front of the theater.

Custom movie posters is a great idea. How about modifying the theatre to house a smartphone? Heck, let's IMAX it and put a 10" tablet in there!

Seeing it in person, it is a really cool model. They ended up giving it away at the end of Brick Fair, alas my name had already been picked from the raffle so I did not win. This was my first Lego convention and it was a blast. I sported my FBTB Bothcon shirt in fine fashion.
