Yay, my favorite, a Y-Wing!

This model shows a nice compact solution to put a microfig into a starfighter cockpit. I'm off to make an X-Wing, A-Wing, and Snowspeeder for microfig pilots!

Yay, another Y-Wing! Nice greebling.

I've gotta try to make a Clone Wars era version of the Y. I luv the stripped down, hot-rod look of the A New Hope Y-Wings, but the full faired Y-Wings are interesting, too, no?

I'm looking forward to seeing new entries, too. I'm always amazed and surprised by the level of creativity and ingenuity the contests bring out.

Is the contest more about making a something that looks like it would fit in the Battle of Hoth game, only more complete / detailed or to actual scale size as if you were making a minifig based set and scaling it down to be proportional to the micro fig?

My two biggest helps were Google Images for diagrams, but also the New Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels. It was through that nifty guide that I approximated my scale; most of it was based off of the astromech droid's size, because I knew it would have to be a brick wide.

I asked the same question on page 2. The answer didn't really address cap ships or bridges that don't have canopies.

build small; you can exaggerate the cockpit. it doesn't have to be perfectly in scale to a microfig. nothing in the star wars theme is perfectly in scale to a minifig anyway besides the UCS Falcon, and even that will generate scale debates. the idea is we're going for small ship, enclosed cockpits, microfig pilots.

I decided in the interest of time, I didn't have enough time to build anything close to scale in the spirit of the contest larger than a fighter anyways. Even a freighter like a TY-X or shuttle would be huge. So I decided not to press further. But from the way things are worded in the rules it sounds like you could build a tiny SSD trapezoid grey wedge and put the mico fig in the hull some where standing up right and it would be all good. Since cap ships don't have closed or unclosed canopies... But the focus of the contest seems to be around building a ship for a micro fig as if the fig was reg size. Its created some interesting challenges

Just the pilot or bridge crew is fine if you want to go super small for something like a cap ship. You don't need to have the full crew if you want to build one of those but you still need to stick to the pilot orientation rules. SSD's do actually have a bridge if you look up the reference pics, so the microfig should be in that general area if you plan to build that ship.
