If I understand your question correctly, I think your looking for this vehicle mudguard piece?
Image

Lego refers to the piece as "Brick 2X4x1 W. Screen", but others may use the Bricklink description:"Vehicle, Mudguard 4 x 2 1/2 x 2 with Arch Round ". With that in mind, it's Design ID is: 50745 which you can enter into the search field to the right of the Lego Digitial Designer Logo on the Bricks tab. That will show the piece.

If your trying to find it manually, it's in the group with this "tail" piece icon.

Hope this helps.

NAME THAT PART?

Postby jeddell » Thu Jan 10, 2013 6:34 pm

Hi All,

I'm new to the forum....and I guess new to the whole lego addiction. I'm sorting through my kids Lego sets and have been searching far and wide to get replacement parts for them. I came across a few pieces I'd like to post here to see if anyone can give me the part number for them. I'd also appreciate how and where you found them as well. As I'm sure there are other parts that I will have the same problem with. SO without further adew, Can anybody identify this part?

Image

Thanks in Advance

PS, I apologise If I have placed this in the wrong area. If here is a Forum specifically for Part ID, I could not find it....

Pretty sure that's a canon body of some sort. I'll merge this into the part identification thread for you and I'm sure someone will track down the specifics.

Hey Draykov,

Thanks for the post. Yes, I've found most of the site mentioned in the post. I have found that Brickset and Bricklink to be the best and most comprehensive. I have spent the last week sorting My kids lego out so I can set up a lego store (the brick hut, just to slip in some shameless plug!), However, either I'm going cross eyed after a solid week searching through countless images on Brickset and page after page in bricklink, some pieces I just cannot identify.

This brings me to the forums in the hope that people that have had far more experience than I and have probably nemorised the many categories, parts, sets etc, etc.

Part of my collection has as ection in it called "Unknown". Sadly this section has grown somewhat over the past few days. It wont stop me from opening my store (The Brick Hut!!! more shameless advertising). I will of course continue to search to ID the parts and post here my findings, but any support from this forum would be great.

THE BRICK HUT UNKOWN PARTS

Postby jeddell » Mon Jan 14, 2013 5:28 am

Hi All,

After a grueling week of intense sorting of hundreds of parts, I have 16 items that I cannot identify. Here they are:

Item 1.
Image
This item is a 2 x 4 black brick, but it has some kind of axle holes through the sides and ends

Item 2
Image
No Idea about this one. Possibly some kind of roof??

Item 3
Image
Dont be fooled by this one. There are no serations around the tabs

Item 4
Image
No idea on this one

Item 5
Image
No idea for this one either

Item 6
Image
Noyte the three tabs instead of the standard two

Item 7
Image
This is a flexible piece

Item 8
Image
A turntable base for sure, but with three hingetabs.

Item 9
Image
To be honest, I'm not even sue if this is a lego piece

Item 10
Image
Some kind of Connector??

Item 11
Image
This plate has two tabs at one end and three at the other

Item 12
Image
Is this actually an item or just a broken piece?

Item 13
Image
Its a tyre of some sort. no wall on one side

Item 14
Image
Some kind of vehicle front possibly

Item 15
Image
Possibly part of a castle set?

Item 16
Image
Yep, a gate. No idea what from though.

I'll keep an eye on the parts as I go along and will answer this post if and when I find the part numbers, but any help at all with these items would be great. Even a idea of a name or what kind of set they might be from. I have found some part numbers by guessing the sets as well.

Cheers all.

#1: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=7049b
#2: It's a Mega Blok part so you need to look elsewhere for information on it. Most people here would say burn it.
#3: This is an old style hinge that they used all the time before making the click style hinge. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=4276
#4: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=6044

#7: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=73590c01a
#8: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=251
#9: I am not sure about this one either.
#10: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=61184
#11: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=4504
#12: I think this is a lever that is just a bit bent. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=4593
#13: It might be easier to identify if you had a wheel that fit in this tire.
Not sure about #14 or #15

jeddell, I don't know if you realized this, but LEGO part numbers are generally molded onto each element somewhere for all but the very smallest parts. It may take a magnifying glass and some creative dexterity involving a flash light if the number happens to be in some dark recess of the part, but if you plug that part number into Bricklink or Peeron, you'll usually be able to confirm the identity.

#13: If it's Lego - one of these: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&catString=111 ;) Good luck!
#14: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=50949
#15: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=4088

As for #9: On occasion, I'll find a random tube or something that looks like an official part mixed in with all the other Lego pieces in a new set. I think they're either reject pieces, pre-manufacture material that is meant to be melted down, pieces of a molded part that gets sheared off from a bigger piece, or just some random chunk of plastic that is completely unrelated to Lego. Regardless of where it's from, I highly doubt it's a Lego piece used for building - but I usually hold onto them for some reason. :)

Wow! Thanks Guys.

Draykov, I did not know that, though I did wonder if they may have done it. I will certainly do a search in future. Thanks one and all! you guys rock!

And I humbly apologize for desecrating this sanctuary of knowledge with a impure and blasphemous part, tainting the innocence and purity of the parts list.

Cheers

Hey everyone!

I'm trying to build a mini angry bird, the directions which have been provided by ochre jelly on flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/ochre_jelly/6839227477). The only part I can't identify is the tail piece. It consists of 2 pieces which look like little dumbbells. It almost looks like the control levers in several other sets, but nothing that I've found has 2 ball on the end like this one does. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for your help!

Those are levers without the base: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=4593
You stack two of those together with the flat ends touching and the other ends apart.

Also, that image url of yours will not work because you need to upload your photo to the internet first. Try it again.

Solo, I got the small lever, but no matter how hard I try, I can't fit the 2 flat ends of the levers into the other piece, even if I try rotating it 90 degrees. Do you have any other ideas for a tail for the angry bird? I can always get a small base for each lever, but do you have any other ideas on how to get two "feathers" for the tail?

Thanks!
