Hey,

So sad to see Caylin's post on the BB this morning. I just posted my thoughts on the front page of Classic-Castle. Back in the early days of the millennium I was pretty active here, and Mike was one of the people I always enjoyed interacting with. For a long time there he was a regular late night chatter on the CC board, and was always great fun. I'm sorry I've never been to a con as this means I've never gotten a chance to meet him in the flesh. Somewhere up there heaven is a happier place because of his good humor, but down here it's a little sadder.

Sad news, indeed. The Count had an infinitely deep well of creativity and wisdom. His Miniland work still floors me - incredible MOCs.

Does anyone know why much of Mike's Flickr stream has gone private since this morning? In my post on CC I linked to some favorite MOCs of his, and now those links come up as private.

Either someone is going through and methodically shutting down his internet assets, or his Pro account expired at a particularly bad time?

Mike was inspiring when it came to LEGO building but his personality was even more inspiring. He was never mean to anyone. He was positive about everything - even his own illness. I wish I had those attributes. He will truly be missed by everyone who knew him.

Wow...I joined FBTB way back in 1999, when it was on AOL. I always remember Count Blockula and how he was an integral part of this community. Sad to hear of his passing. RIP, Count.

I saw that his pro account got renewed. Inopportune time for it to expire, right when a lot of us who knew him online were going there for remembrances, or linking to the account in our blog posts on him.

It has been a very long time since I last posted here, but I would also like to express my sadness for his passing, as well as remember the delight he'd bring everyone through his humor and superhuman building skills. Seeing his work stirs the bricks inside me, inspires the ideas and creations that I haven't had time to build or even put down on paper. Rest in peace, Count, and may your work and your spirit continue to inspire all of us.

Just looked back through his Flickr stream. What amazing MOCs. I remember being inspired by many of Mike's techniques and ideas, especially the things he did with lever pieces. Always looked forward to seeing new builds from him. Loved his forum avatars back when too. He was such a great presence on the forums when I was first getting into LEGO and the fan community. Great sense of humor such a nice guy.

A message from Mike Crowley’s family

My wife Janina and I wish to pass along our gratitude to the wonderful folks from the Lego Brick community for their outpouring of sympathy to the family at Mike’s passing. We greatly appreciated so many sharing stories and pictures of their memories of Mike at the many conferences he attended. He so loved these times when his health was better and you all made us aware of a side of him that we did not know existed.

Again, thank you all for your kindness, it made a very difficult time for the Crowley family a great deal easier knowing that the Count had so many friends and fans.
