First look at Home 1 set from ToyFare magazine

Postby Morgan19 » Wed Feb 11, 2009 10:32 am

Chewk pulled some scans from ToyFair magazine of the new "Mon Calamari Star Cruiser" set. Not quite what some were thinking probably, but hey look, we get official Mon Cal head pieces! Mon Mothma! Lando! A dkgreen A-Wing! And... other stuff! ;)

That Home One set is far better than I expected and we do have a great range of important rebel officers with Mon Mothma, Admiral Ackbar and General Crix Madine ;)

Wow, looks like crap in my opinion. Except for the figs...there really isn't anything great. The A-Wing is just a rehash of the last release, and the rest of the structure looks bleh. On top of that it will be way over priced. I will pass on this one just like all the rest of the Star Wars sets recently.

I'm still amused by this:

"I'm a Mon Calamari."
"I'm a Mon Mothma."
"And I'm a mon-ster in the sack!"
"Color me intrigued..."

Despite the not-unexpected "wow that's horrible!!!11" cries from the dependably negative UberPessimists, this playset actually has a lot to offer: several new figures, new headpieces, new torso prints, the fantastic A-wing model in an alternate color, tons of of white pieces... Sure, it's not a giant Home 1 ship, but that's not the goal of the set.

Looks OK, and I'll probably buy it, but it's not at all what I was expecting/hoping for ... I thought we were getting a 'mini-fig ISD' deelio, so an actual 'Home One', not just a hangar+briefing room.

The figs look good & the A-Wing is a must have.

1: This is why catch-all threads suck. The definitely warranted a new thread considering that this is the set that we helped brainstorm in chat all those months back.

2: Folks, it's ToyFair. You probably aren't getting the whole picture yet. Even if we are though, woo hoo! It looks far less expensive than I expected, so it'll be easier to grab those tasty new figs!

Not what I was hoping for, except for the minifigs! Awesome, Akbar+other Mon Cal!

I would have liked a MiniFig ISD type set, but it looks like I might have to mod my Minifig ISD to become a Home One :)

Woohoo, we get General Madine!

And all the others too, of course. The new MonCal headpiece looks awesome too. The structure seems nice, even if I was expecting the Home I to be a ISD/Venator sized job. Still this is a cool idea, although we did get a new A-Wing only3 years ago. Still, it looks like those engines are now available in DkGreen, which is pretty cool.

All in all, I rather like this set, although I doubt i'll be able to buy it...

Wow, this set looks really awesome with some great new figs. It looks like a lot of what we have wanted has been included in the set. Another set I'll have to get ;) .

This doesn't look terrible. I hope it's reasonably priced, but if it isn't, I might get it anyway just because it's one of the only Original Trilogy sets released this year.

I am so using Madine's torso for another Ghostbuster uniform.

I'll probably get the set, it doesn't look that bad. Any know what the price will be? I'm guessing somewhere between 100-120 dollars, although it may be more, what with all the figs and the new prints and molds.

I think the new A-wing looks awesome! This new collection of mini figs are just another reason I will not have any surplus money this year. :D
