2013 SW Sets spotted @ TRU

I was at TRU this morning, shopping for my kids (no, really...Dora and Thomas stuff) and found the January wave of sets. They had everything from the battle packs on up to the Rancor set. Of course, they had the usual TRU price gouge as well.

No pictures as my phone is on its last legs and the camera didn't want to work today. However, the battle packs were $17.99, the A-Wing was $27.99, and IIRC, the Rancor Pit was $65 ish. If you're made of money and/or can't wait a few more days, now's your chance.

Unfortunately, if people weren't able to order from Amazon before now, they'll be forced to pay TRU mark-up to get the sets by Christmas since Amazon has changed all 2013 sets to pre-orders now.

In years past, I was lucky to get the new SW BPs at TRU before Dec 25th at MSRP. On the 26th, TRU would place their tax on them. Looks like they've changed their practice.

yeah, i've found that if you can find new sets on the shelf immediately after they're put out, they're still priced at MSRP and then it would take a few days for the store to apply their markup. but recently they seem to be have the markup applied before they're even put out. related anecdote: i was looking for the masterpiece optimus prime and found a fresh box on the top shelf with the shelf price tag still on the outside of the box: $99.99. Went to go pay and it rang up as $109.99. I went back to grab the shelf tag with the lower price and they applied a manual adjustment. it's sad to think that getting a toy at msrp at toys'r'us is actually an accomplishment these days.

That's a hard one to find. It's 129.99 online and out of stock there and most brick and mortar locations. They also had bogo 40% off last week, worth it to buy two!

We have a TRU "Express" that occasionally shows up in our mall around the holidays, and I remember a couple of years back finding about 4 or 5 dozen Clone & Assassin Droid BPs and getting excited (that's when they were becoming hard to find.) I didn't believe it when I saw the price was $18!

I remember thinking "good luck selling these at that price."

Now it's standard...pretty sad for collectors these days.

I used to rush out to TRU to buy the new line, but I just wait. I refuse to support or pay their communistic prices. Even the buy 1 get 1 50% deals rarely brings a good profit.
