I found this at a friends house while going through his older parts. Did this even exsist? I just wanted to know which set this came in. Thanks,

Masked

In other words, it came from a Harry Potter set (in case you don't know who Fawkes the Phoenix is).

You can also search Bricklink and Peeron for the part number that is printed on the bottom of every piece. The number is hard to make out on small pieces but if you checked this bird's butt, you'd find a number there.

Ah yes, the patented check-the-bird's-butt identification method... scientifically proven to be the most accurate part identification process known to man! :)

This isn't exactly the same type of question, but can anyone link me to the bricklink page for a kashyyyk trooper helmet (if such a page exists)? I've searched and searched and can't seem to find it. I found the other parts ok, just looking for the helmet now...

It's just the regular scout helmet, listed in sand green: Minifig, Headgear Helmet SW Scout Trooper

Or here's the figure's inventory page, with the helmet listed. You can look up any figure and click "View Inv" to get a breakdown of its individual parts like that.

Thanks for that. I swear I had tried everything on bl, even searching the inventory page. It appears to be completely out of stock right now, which might explain my difficulty in finding it.

Looks like 2 sets, both from Life On Mars in 2001:

Red Planet Protector - http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=7313-1

Have you tried searching for it via Bricklink? Do you know which set the part came in? Have you identified the part number? Do you have an image? All handy bits of info when trying to ID a part.
