Both of these where a bit too cartoony for me.

Well they are comic book characters haha. actually now that I think about it, these are some of the only mechs that have very animal-like features, should be a good fight!

Anyway, yes these are cartoony but I think they are pretty cool. It was a sort of hard choice. I admit my thoughts are swayed somewhat by great photography.

I admit my thoughts are swayed somewhat by great photography.

I'd hate to lose (or win, for that matter, though I doubt I have to worry about that) on those grounds. Though I know that something has to be the deciding factor. To my mind, the photography only becomes an issue when it is bad enough to actually detract from my ability to evaluate the build. But my opinion on the matter is no doubt influenced by my admitted lack of photography expertise.

(I actually thought my pictures came out pretty well, especially for a mostly black model, but I'd agree that my opponent's photography skills are superior.)

Totally agree, making things look pretty is great (most likely all of us try our best at least) but it's really about the build itself

I have to say that I'm really bad photographer (thrust me).
I have no camera so I always borrow it from some friend.
I usually don't know howe to use it. after 15 minutes I realize how to turn off the flash.
Than i build tripod from a chair and some books...

But I know simple tricks like how to remove the background or correct the color.
So only photoshop skills help me...

PS: In FBTB's contests I always judge creations, not photography skills.

I understand everything you're saying. I try not to let that sway my thoughts too much. And yes, your photos came out great.
