TMNT Line Revealed

Bothan Spy over at Eurobricks (I know...) found images for the initial TMNT line set to be released next year. We've already seen 79104 Shellraiser Street Chase, 79102 Stealth Shell in Pursuit, and 79103 Turtle Lair Attack. We now see the other three sets 79105 Baxter Robot Rampage, 79101 Shredder's Dragon Bike, and 79100 Kraang Lab Escape.

Not too excited about these, but I might get the robot and the truck just to get a set of all four turtles.

I'm luke-warm to some of the sets in this series... But the Baxter Stockman set has me a bit fired up. Especially the idea of making a small army of Mousers. Add a $10 set and I get Mikey and Krang, too? All that's left is Leo and I'm all set!

These look great, does anyone know if the new Baxter is going to turn into a fly? The krang bot is really nice. I wish the van was more like the original party wagon though.

I kind of doubt that Baxter Stockman will become a flyman in this series. In the original comics he was primarily the villainous inventor of the mousers. Later I think he became some sort of cyborg. (Not that this series is necessarily heavily based on the original comics. In fact, it does seem to incorporate some elements that were unique to the original cartoon show (i.e. Splinter is the man Hamato Yoshi in this series, instead of a pet rat.) I think probably that in this series Baxter Stockman will be a villain in a robot power suit. But I could be wrong.

The original Baxter Stockman action figure was one that I always wished I had as a kid, as I loved the really crazy mutant action figures (the more legs the better!)

So the idea is the turtles use whatever junk they can to make their vehicles. Much like the original line. But for some reason it was easier to get a fridge box, engine, wheels, exhaust, armor plating, gas lines, etc piecemeal than to steal a broken down van from a junkyard? I don't get it.

I'm still very stoked for this line. Of course they don't feel like the classic 80's TMNT because they're all based on the new 2012 cartoon, but that doesn't bother me. The new toon is actually pretty good and has lots of easter eggs for those familiar with the original toons and comics. These new kits look like a ton of fun and the figs are sweet!

My only beef is Don's bo. The use of the spyglass is awful. They couldn't just make a new 5L bar element (essentially a longer lightsaber blade)? Mikey's nunchuks suffer in the same manner. Just make a sweet-looking part!

Here's hoping these will start showing up before Christmas. I keep checking TRUs (as they seem to be the one getting the new stuff first), but alas no luck yet....
