The head's pistil comes from a scala lamp. This went through several major design revisions. The first feet had long yellow claws, and the first head was very turtle-ee. I decided more than halfway through that I wanted the body to be more bell shaped, like a bulb or a trunk.

Excellent. I like how how it's obvious right away who pilots this mech; it's not a generic killer robot "painted" in the appropriate paint scheme to match a character.
