Star Wars knock-off plastic figures

Postby Draykov » Thu Oct 18, 2012 1:49 pm

Oh Internet...when you're not showing me unspeakable visions of bodily horror, you are hitting me with nostalgic knockout blows. Out of nowhere today, I was reminded of these cheap knock-off plastic figures that were first available in the late '70s. They are sometimes known as Star Patrol or Galaxy Laser Team. I had them as a kid but had almost completely forgotten about them. Any of you other old-timers remember these?

This may or may not surprise you, but I have that droid.

I feel like I just got out of the hot-tub time machine. I wish I knew whatever happened to my set. I remember setting them up on the furniture in strategic positions, and shooting them with rubber bands. I remember all of those, except for the girl. I might've separated her out and given her to my sister to play with, so she wouldn't get shot.

Excuse me while I go make a LEGO model of the droid, now. :)

Thanks for the memories!

Ha! Those are awesome. I am just a little too young for these (I'm 32), but this is hilarious. Did they hurry up and make these when Kenner had the "empty box/certificate" thing for Christmas '77?

they look more like the space version of the classic army men with their non-articulation. what stores sold them anyway? never saw them at k-mart...

Precisely...and I suppose they were sold wherever you can find green army men...five-and-dime/mom-and-pop shops and grocery stores and the like. Apparently, TimMee has re-molds currently available wherever "fine toys" are sold.
