New round of brick quality issues?

Not to jump the gun, but everybody keep your torches and pitchforks handy. According to news over at Brickset, it looks like there may be some new quality issues in system sets - notably, the medium blue bricks in the Monster Fighters theme.



If anybody who has picked up 9466 Crazy Scientist and Monster feels inclined to take a look and report back, the more nervous over-reactors in our group would appreciate it.

And just for fun, here's an unrelated response to the question "which LEGO parts are made in China?" by a LEGO message board moderator. Granted, it's from 4 years ago, so not sure what, if anything, has changed since then.

LEGO's own Mark Stafford had this to say:

Current 2x4 bricks are thinner walled then those made about 5 years ago, this led to more consistent clutch power and in natural light they are suppossed to look the same, but of course if you back light them they will be more transparent - in any colour. I'd like to know if the 1x2 or 2x2 had similar issues. Either way if you are not happy, call consumer services.

One thing though - not one of these is made in China.

I picked up the samurai mech Ninjago set. Some of the pieces were noticeably more translucent when held to the light, but they felt no different from the other bricks, had as much grip as normal, and once the set was all put together it was pretty impossible to tell any difference.
