Fred Meyer - The Lord of the Rings Arrives

Postby Staff » Mon May 14, 2012 3:10 pm

LEGO The Lord of the Rings at Fred Meyer

If you live in the Pacific Northwest, then lucky you, the new LEGO The Lord of the Rings sets are hitting shelves. The good, or neutral, news is they're priced at MSRP. The bad news is there isn't a "10% off" coupon this week. As the sets are just beginning to trickle out, your store-to-store experience may vary. The store I visited and snapped the pic above only had three sets: 9469 Gandalf Arrives, 9470 Shelob Attacks, and 9473 The Mines of Moria. Expect reviews for Gandalf Arrives and The Mines of Moria very soon.

No mark up in the price either! You're so lucky. ;)

LOTR is also available at several of my local Fred Meyer stores in the Portland, Oregon area (9469,9470,9471,9473)

Found all of the new sets at my local Toys 'R Us today. Got there just as the employee was stocking them on the shelves. I picked up Gandalf Arrives and Uruk-Hai Army. I would have loved to pick them all up but the mark-ups were so terrible I couldn't justify it. $80 for Weathertop, $100 for Mines of Moria and $160 for the Battle of Helms Deep. Ridiculous that $60 sets are being marked up $20. I paid $18 just for Gandalf Arrives.

I'll wait until they're available elsewhere or on the LEGO website with free shipping. I refuse to put another dime into the coffers of those bandits.

Yea, the fact that they are charging $80 for a 400 pc. set is very upsetting :(

Sadly, not at mine. Ah well, not sure I was getting any of them anyway, and if I did, I'd wait for a sale in any event.

I've been to three Fred Meyers in the Portland, OR area and the sets are in stock (or sold out) at every one. Finally found an in stock of Uruk-Hai Army this morning after several tries.

I don't doubt it, but I was at my local Fred Meyer yesterday, and there were no LotR sets, nor any empty spaces for them on the shelves. Perhaps they are there today.

I picked up Gandalf Arrives, Shelob Attacks, and The Mines of Moria yesterday. The Fred Meyer's (in Oregon) I went to also had Uruk-hai Army. FBTB's review on Gandalf Arrives is quite accurate. A good set, but nothing amazing. Shelob Attacks is a good spider but the rock thing is dumb. I was happy to see that I got two Sting swords with it, though 3 One Rings seemed a little excessive. The Mines of Moria is an amazing set. I loved the detail in it, and the prices seemed justified. I only wish Legolas could turn his head. Over all I'm very happy with them, and glad I could pick some up so early.
