LEGO's 4th and 5th Promotion has already started!

Postby legoboy12345678 » Wed May 02, 2012 1:54 pm

Apparently, while I was ordering the R2-D2 last night, I received the confirmation as a normal order would go. But I had an extra surprise!

Ordering on the 1st let me receive the Exclusive R2-D2 poster and TC-14 Minifigure!

Pretty sweet! So if your waiting to order on the fourth, theres no wait now!

Cool beans. But, but, you paid for shipping. Let me go cry in a corner and contemplate that.

Argghhh!! Why does LEGO need all of my monies! Does anyone know if you get a discount if you work for them? That may be the cheapest route, even if it means less pay than what I currently get.

And also, why not wait three days to get all the deals & discounts? :S I guess you'll be enjoying your R2 a few days before everyone else who gets one...you can brag about that in the forums and take him to cool locations for photo ops and such. ;) Awe...I want one now!

Patience...

I called TLG and they confirmed that orders placed today do get the promo items. I ordered the R2D2 and it qualified for free shipping as well.

i just ordered, but it's taking a while to get a confirmation email. the order summary did not show anything special after placing the order, but the order did not show up in the order status page yet: http://shop.lego.com/en-US/account/orderStatus.jsp

I expect/hope the delay is because they are modifying my order.

Ensure you understand this early deal only applies if you buy the R2D2 model. I ordered the SSD early this morning (central time) and did not qualify for any of the promotions when I received my order confirmation. So I called the Lego group and they told me to kick rocks. So I will just order another SSD tomorrow and refuse my first order when it comes via Fed Ex. I guess it was my mistake, but I'm pretty peaved about this situation.

That's interesting because when I had called I first asked about the promotion before placing my order over the phone.

I should have done that, I just think its BS that TLG only offered the early promotion JUST for the UCS R2D2, meh can't fight the man. Thats what I get for jumping the gun, I should have waited especially since it looks like the SSD might go for 20% off. Im just peeved that I used my gift card, so I will not be able to use it for the 4th. It is what it is...sorry for the vent. Glad some of you were able to take advantage of the early bird deal.

I guess it's not just me thinking that May the Fourth is getting worse each year. I already attained everything I wanted on the discounted list as I deamed it acceptable for the original asking price. What I was hoping for was the wave before: Nightspeeder, Battle of Geonosis, Geo Starfighter...the asking prices for those are some of the most ridiculous in the line right now.

It's amazing how LEGO manages to "mess up" just about every promotion in some way...

The postcard I got last weekend mentioned four items only valid on 4th and 5th of May:
  • Free TC-14 for LEGO Star Wars purchases worth at least EUR 55
  • Free poster for any LEGO Star Wars purchases
  • Free Mini TIE Fighter for any LEGO Star Wars purchases
  • Free shipping for all orders over EUR 55

I waited and finally ordered the UCS R2D2 from German Shop@Home this morning. My main worry was that it might go out of stock between May 1st and today. (A footnote clearly states that back-ordered items are excluded from the promotion.)

Then I placed a second order for the Architecture Sydney Opera House and a bunch of S7 minifigs, just above the EUR 55 limit for free shipping. Guess what? Another free TC-14, free poster and free Mini TIE without a single Star Wars item in the cart.

I'm not complaining, but why does LEGO always seem incapable of enforcing the conditions it has set up front for such promotions?
