This was incredibly difficult, so many nice ones to choose from. I look forward to seeing which ones move on. Good work everyone!

I didn't see the Elven podracer :( Is there a way it could have been accidentally missed?

It was disqualified for modifying the minifigure.

Yep. Unfortunately the builder never responded to my PM, flickr message, or email about the brown hands.

Awesome entries!

FYI to Solo / staff -- I didn't see a link to the voting on the front page, or the contests page...? I didn't even know the poll was up until I consulted my friendly neighborhood FBTB staffer.

Just a thought that there might be others wondering where the voting is...

Good Grief FBTB! I was expecting you to post the article "Voting open Today" with your typical awesome collage.
I did not know until FIVE MINUTES AFTER the Polls closed were the pod voting was taking place. My brother and I were very intent on voting in time.. .especaillly since we entered a pod fpr the first time!

Please consider making the polls easier for us users to acess (via front page) instead of being hidden in forums.

I know. I dropped the ball there. I didn't make a separate post once the poll went live, just the deadline reminder the day before saying the poll would be ready by the weekend. That seemed like a sufficient announcement. Then when I did make this poll, I posted it as a global thread it so that it would be linked at the top of every board for anyone signed in, thinking that was the best way to spread the word. I guess I was wrong, as I clearly didn't consider the lurkers who rely on the frontpage. I'll remember that for future contests. I'll have a post up shortly announcing the poll with the finalists.

17th ouch, guess I had hoped to do a little better (maybe come in 8th for the 3rd straight time ;) ) but there was some very strong competition. Thanks staff for putting this contest on, I always enjoy building another podracer.

I know you've explained why it was done this way, but I have to chime in... The not-surprising "what, it's closed!?" comments illustrate why I'd asked if a poll was going to be posted for this round back on the first page.

Front-paging the start of the contest and the final poll, but then skipping a post about the preliminary round, is strangely inconsistent and doesn't make a lot of sense. I wasn't sure why it was done that way and it wasn't my place to question it further, but I'm actually surprised a frontpage item wasn't posted after the question was raised.

And for what it's worth... I went to View New Posts (which is almost always how I view the forums) and then clicked the Global voting announcement from there, but I couldn't vote or even reply to the thread that way. After a bit of frustration I discovered that I could only vote or comment if I click on the global link outside of the View New Posts link (ie, from within a forum section). In fact, the same thing is happening to me now with the final round. If that's happening to other folks who use the View New Posts link, a Global post may not be the best solution anyway.

I got into double digits for the first time. Woo-hoo personal victory. Thanks for a great contest and congrats to all the winners.

It's a simple case of me not realizing how important a separate announcement for the poll on the mainpage was until the poll was over. I honestly thought the previous post was enough, even after you asked. I won't make that mistake in future contests.

As far as the global post creating a problem: it seems that the new posts page link is still defaulting to the staff forum instead of the contests forum even after shuffling it around last night to solve that issue via the mainpage link, so I'm demoting it so no one else will have that issue.

after seeing some of the other awesome entries, I doubted I would squeak through to the finals, but I guess I squeaked in after all... ;)
