Ok, here's my submission. I was hoping to get this in before anyone else does this theme. I got my inspiration from George Lucas. He said he got his inspiration for the pod racers from the chariot races of Roman times. But instead of two horses pulling a two-wheeled chariot, it was two jet engines pulling a small hovering pod. And when I saw the Roman soldier in series 6 and heard about this competition, I thought for sure everyone would make the connection. This is my vision of a Roman chariot pod racer. It's two horse-shaped jet engines pulling a chariot shaped hovering pod. Bringing pod racing back to it's roots.

@pastermacman: you'll need to submit a plain picture for your racer.

I'm gutted...I completed my "horse" first engine over the weekend and it is exactly the same concept...different colour and the horse head is a little different...oh well back to the drawing board.

By the way pastormacman, that is awesome.

I felt the same way when the Space Villain Podracer was entered, however apparently it's all right to have multiple entries for one minifigure according to "onions".

...there will undoubtably be multiple entries for the same minifig...my dilemma is the fact the two entries will look too similar...

mental note...I must try to finish my builds earlier...

Here is my entry: The pre-prequel pod based off of the caveman figure. It's a very primitive design with early accelerator and braking technology. Unfortunately the brakes can only be applied once but I guess you only have to stop at the end of the race anyway.

Here's Intergalactic Girl's podracer. Cool white with some feminine splashes of pink and turquoise (thank you Lego Friends, although I don't know what I'm going to do with these Lego Olivias, Stephanies and Emmas now).

Wow, these entries are fantastic. I do not know how I am going to be able to choose. They are all so awesome. Halfbeak, I love how you used the toy story army men stands for the mouths on your engines. And the gungan grinder is awesome and hilarious. I love the meat grinder concept. Kudos to everyone who's entered so far.

I redid the engines after watching TPM 3D. I don't do vehicles very well, buildings are easier.

I give thee the Evil Dwarf's Battle Axe.

I'm not sure if this is thematic enough. I tried to make it look like the Evil Dwarf's weapon. Let me know if this doesn't qualify.
You can see a few more pics at my gallery.
