FBTB Parts Draft Four: Freeco Speeder

Postby Staff » Mon Jan 02, 2012 2:42 pm

The next FBTB Parts Draft will take place on Saturday January 14th at 10 am PST.

We'll be drafting 10 copies of Star Wars set 8085 Freeco Speeder for $10 (shipping charges will be calculated later for each participant.)

You can see the inventory for this set on Bricklink.

The draft will follow essentially the same rules as the last draft.

Draft registration will commence on Thursday January 5th at 12 pm PST, which you can do in this thread here by simply posting "FREECO!" Feel free to post any and all questions or comments in the thread; however, anyone posting "FREECO!" before the clock hits noon on January 5th will be banned form participating. I will then confirm your registration via private message and give you PayPal payment instructions, and our draft order will be decided by the order of payment received from participants.

While the Freeco was overpriced at MSRP, it's actually not a bad little build and offers some great parts for a parts draft. Nice work putting this together again, chief!

Wait, was i hallucinating or did it say earlier that it was going to happen on the 10th, now the 14th? How long does a parts draft last from start to finish? I ask because my only internet access is the public library currently, but i'd like to participate. They close pretty early on Saturdays, so if we got a late start & it ended up taking 2 hours, i'd prolly have to be disqualified.

I'd love to get in on this, but really have no guarantee I'll have internet that day. To any one on the fence, DO EEEET! The last one I participated in was a blast.

The date in the post has not been modified. The date of the 14th has been set for a while now.

The drafts started out taking more than two hours, but IIRC the last one was about 1 hour 30 minutes or 1hr 45 mins. We've gotten faster each time.

FBTB's currently got sets for drafts every other month through September. We've been stockpiling stuff as we come across great deals, usually at 50% off (or more, like this month's 60% off Freeco speeder!)

I'll make an official "Save the date" post later, but here's what we've got coming:
January 14th FBTB Draft Four: Freeco Speeder
March 24th FBTB Draft Five: Toy Story
May 19th FBTB Draft Six: star Wars
July 14th FBTB Draft Seven: Atlantis
September 15th FBTB Draft Eight: Star Wars

There is no restriction on who is participating from where, as long as you can be present in the chat at 10 AM Pacific Standard time (whatever time that actually is for you) on Saturday the 14th of January. You should keep in mind that shipping internationally will cost more, but we try to get sets as cheaply as we can to save everyone some money.

thanks Chief. One last question do you know if the Chat works on a mobile device; I'm around (as it is 6pm GMT) but I don't have access to a laptop/computer on Saturdays.

I know ace can join our chat from his iphone, so yeah it's possible.
I don't know if there is an IRC app or just using the web browser, but the important IRC information is:
Server: irc.esper.net
Channel: #fbtbdraft

If no one's in the that channel, don't panic. I usually don't usher people there until draft time, we usually congregate in the regular FBTB chat until go-time.

We split minifigs into lots of 4, 3, and 3 figures, so that more participants have a chance to get the figures and we retain the spirit of getting bulk amounts of figures and pieces in a draft.

FREECO!

I'm interested in participating, but I noticed that you had a registration date cutoff in the previous rules, and I'm not sure if that applies here. If I'm not eligible, forgive me for cluttering the thread.
