Please welcome the Q-Wing Tactical Interceptor Prototype!
Image
Q T.I.P. Front by Deroblo, on Flickr
A major part of the Q T.I.P.s' design was influenced by the high rate of R2 attrition by random shots, thus the added armor and hatch housing the R2 unit.
Image
Q T.I.P. R2 open by Deroblo, on Flickr
With the chase armament folded forward into attack position the Q T.I.P. would have been able to take on many of its larger opponents.
Image
Q T.I.P. 3-4ish by Deroblo, on Flickr
Sadly even with the help of the R2 unit, the rigors of simultaneously piloting the ship and controlling the highly maneuverable chase armament proved too much for one pilot and the Q T.I.P. was mothballed.

I-Wing Cruising by SPARKART!, on Flickr.

This model depicts the experimental Imperial Interceptor I-Wing. The I-Wing performs its intercept and attack role by disabling enemy ship or installation shields with high-power ion cannon blasts.

Image
I-Wing by SPARKART!, on Flickr.

The I-Wing employs the TIC TOC weapon system: Twin Ion Cannons Thruster Overdrive Compensated. Certain types of ion cannons suffer heavy recoil (refer to the ion cannon in The Empire Strikes Back). When an I-Wing's ion cannon fires, the TIC TOC system pulses the in-line engine at high overdrive levels and compensates for the recoil.

Image
I-Wing Cockpit by SPARKART!, on Flickr.

Unfortunately, sustained firing of the ion cannons and pulsing of the engines overloads the common power supply for these systems, and the ship suffers catastrophic generator failure - creating, literally, explosive results. The TIC TOC system lives up to its name and is a flying time-bomb in the hands of an inexperienced, trigger-happy pilot.

Sparkart, that's one of the best descriptive narratives I've ever read.

My humble entry: the h-Wing Starfighter.

Image

Image
IMG_3155 by swlegochrism, on Flickr

The only h-Wing ever to leave the hangar, this prototype hosted a powerful hydrogen-helium hyperdrive, hard hafnium hatches and, on the port wing, the infamous HH-class (Hugely Heavy) laser howitzer. The unintended result: hopelessly hampered handling. Testpilot Harry Skypotter's verdict: "ooh 'eck, it was 'orrible! I 'ated it."

Features not shown here: heated seat, in-cockpit hologram, hot Horlicks dispenser, and his-and-hers helmet hold.

[Except for the minifig and the droid, all parts in this build were harvested from a 7636 Harvester.]

My entry, The W-Wing (Thats "W" wing I don't have a stutter XD )
I would have touched these up a little, removing glare, etc, but my Phtotshop crapped out on me :'( Also, the white disks holding it up in some pictures aren't landing gear, they were just used to lift it off the table so the wings could fold out.

Image
Showing off the "W" shape...

Image
Cockpit (open) with Pilot and the astromech. Yes, the entire droid is in there, as per the rules.

Image
Landing mode...

Image
The back, showcasing the sublight/hyperspace drives and the vertical takeoff engines.

Backstory/info:
The W-Wing was designed to be a heavy, long range fighter that highly maneuverable in space and in an atmosphere. Although the craft was fast, maneuverable, well armored, and could hit hard, it was deemed too expensive by Incom, and therefore scrapped. Only 5 production grade W-wings made it off the assembly line. It's armament included 4 laser cannons, 1 small Ion cannon, and 2 heavy proton torpedoes. Extra fuel was stored in the tanks under the wings.

If you check out the other pictures in my Flickr stream (Blade12861) you'll notice the movable wing flaps and engines as well as some shots from slightly different angles than shown here.

Awesome entries so far guys!
Well, here's mine:

The I-wing fighter was a small PA7 70-type starfighter used by the Republic in the Clone Wars. It was capable of hyperdrive and was the smallest ship in the galaxy to have a cloaking device. The I-wing had one turbo-laser, two proton torpedoes, four sublight boosters, one hyperdive thruster and a dual-class round engine on the front. This I-wing is piloted by Jedi Master Mace Windu and his astromech, R8-B7.

This is a top view showing that this ship resembles the letter "I".
Image

This photo shows that the I-wing can fit a full astromech in it.

For my last photo I have decided to show the thrusters behind R8-B7.

Hope you liked my ship and good luck to everyone who entered :)

So many I(i)-wings! They are all good though. It is interesting to see all the different approaches to the same letter.

Well I figured it was about time I got around to contributing to these stellar contests here, so here's my entry:

Image
K-wing pilot and droid by mr_joshua1, on Flickr

The best frontal view in my opinion, doesn't do the ship justice though.
Image

The top frontal 3/4-ish view.

And a final rear view, cause that's all everyone else will see as I walk away with first place!!

Of course I am just kidding, and I truly wish everyone good luck! There are some really nice building techniques out there and judging will be tough.
Thanks to FBTB for inspiring me to finally build the one ship I've always wanted to, but never did.

Nice. I'll admit as a scrolled down the page and saw it my first thought was, hey, wait a minute...

I think this is the first Lego MOC of the K-Wing I've seen. I've always thought it was one odd, chunky, thing of a ship.

Here's my entry, the W-Wing assault bomber.
Built to be faster and more maneuverable than the Y-Wing, very few were produced before an attack destroyed the main factory.
It has 2 proton cannons, 2 laser cannons and carries inside a proton bomb.

Introducing the H. Bomber.
If this contest were for stories, I would forfeit. Enjoy the pictures.

"Art is a Bang!" The Alphabet Fighter You Won't Forget ;)
Dan Minor, top pilot, weapons specialist, humble artist. Elusive and whimsical, old sources deduced that in order to maintain Minor's anonymity he most plausibly might be a changeling. Though only sighted on various occasions witness' accounts differ stating that his H. Bomber always appears in different patterns or color schemes, but never the same one twice. No source can explain or understand the method to his madness. Despite his tardy entries into battle, he only arrives just in time to turn the tides with his trusty Dmin Canon. Canon and Rail are his bread and butter. Combining this pair of weapons with his skill and natural talent makes him a lethal legend of his time. Many achievements and awards await him, but he never attends ceremonies to receive them.

Can we have more than one pilot? Say, like the ARC 170 Starfighter?
