Don Solo's R2 Challenge II - The Tin Can Strikes Back.

Postby Solo » Mon Mar 02, 2009 3:13 pm

It may or may not be a secret that I am what certain psychologists might describe as obsessed with R2D2. I'm inclined to disagree, but you can decide for yourself. This is my collection as of a few years ago and it's only expanded since then. What can I say? I like the design of the droid and Artoo is a great character... and look at all that crazy fun things they've made!

Anyways, the time has come to throw down the gauntlet again.
I present an open challenge to the people of this forum to find an R2D2 item that I have not seen.
I'm not really talking about custom pieces, but rather miscellaneous products available to the public at one time or another. This is not a contest either - I'm doing this for fun. But if you find something that is just too cool, and I end up getting one, I'll send you something as a token of my appreciation. ;)

Also, Vintage stuff is lame. Don't even bother unless it's super obscure or undeniably cool. ;)

Go! XD

An R2 aquarium. Pretty awesome, huh? Just $100.

I have the other version without the giant logo on the bottom. Because, you know, that's just tacky. ;)

Not sure if someone posted this a long time ago, or if you already had it (I'm never going to browse 4 pages of R2-D2 merchandise in order not to double up), but an R2-D2 minifridge?

I don't think that this counts, because it's not actually decorated to look like Artoo, but your fridge reminded me of Bar2-D2.

That...was...amazing! Even if it's not R2 related enough, it certainly looks like something that would be found in something like the Mos Eisley Cantina.

I knew that R2-D2 boombox would give Don that warm and fuzzy feeling on the inside after it was posted :p . If I come across anything, I'll post it.

Alright, got a few more things. Again, not sure if they're in Don's original list or not.

We have:

R2-D2 toilet paper cozy--one of the tasks he performs more reluctantly. ;)

R2-D2 speakers--very detailed, I like how it works.

R2-D2 salt and pepper shakers--I bet he's seen this, though.

And I would post the cookie jar, but I vaguely remember seeing that in your Flickr pages. Any new ones here?

All of those are old news, though that minifridge isn't the one I've seen mentioned lately. It's an older more rarer one.

LOL I would totally buy that if I had fish ...

Yea I'm an R2 fanatic as well. I actually have an R2 on my keychain and I very tempted to buy Ahsoka's Jedi Starfighter just for that new astromech ... and then throw out Ahsoka and use the pieces for spare parts.

R2D2 is a common and acceptable way to refer to the droid. So bugger off. :p

I'm thinking you should update your Flickr account to reflect more accurately your collection ;) Also, perhaps a list of the ones you know of but don't want to spend the cash to buy (mostly understandably). Then it'd be a fair game ;)
