25% off $50+ purchase ALL LEGO sets @ TRU 12/14-12/15

On the TIE Defenders, I actually just got the difference between what I paid on the BOGO vs. what I would have paid for getting them @ 40% off, which was an additional $15.90 back. From what I can tell of the cryptic Toys R Us Receipts, here's what I ended up paying for the various sets after all was said and done (between BOGO 50% offs + additional 25% off, or just the 40% off sale or just the 25% off sale.

TIE Defender: 31.79 (40% off only)
AT-AT #1: 45.00 (BOGO 50% + 25% off retro discount)
AT-AT #2: 90.00 (25% off only)
Endor Battle: $41.25 (BOGO 50% + 25% off retro discount)
Turbo Tank: $97.50 (25% off only)
Stormtrooper minifig price #1: $1.50 (BOGO 50% + 25% off retro discount)
Stormtrooper minifig price #2: $3.00 (25% off only)

I'm not so sure I should have gotten the additional 25% off on the all ready discounted sets, but I'm not complaining!

Could you explain what you had to do? Obviously you had to have the receipts, but did you also have to bring in the 25% off coupon? On your original purchases, did you split them up to get the BOGO discount? Any and all info would be appreciated.

They were out of the 30005 at the TRU I went too but I got free a series 3 minifig instead it's not the trooper but it's better then nothing for free.

I brought in the receipts, said "There is a 25% off Lego purchases of $50 or more, I think there are sets on here that qualify for the promotion. If I surrender my coupon, can I get it applied to these previous purchases from the past few weeks?", then I handed her the receipts and the coupon. I kept it short and sweet. Then she just went thru the entire receipts' contents and applied the discount to every single item.

Like I said, I don't know if she was supposed to, but its worth trying. I had assumed it might only be applied to the regularly priced items when I went there. I'd recommend just keeping the verbal explanation to a minimum and I also went in there later in the evening. I found a couple of other receipts @ home that I'm going to try the same thing with later on today. Might have been dumb luck or might be what was supposed to happen. I guess I'll know when I try again today! Kind of hope I get the same girl as last night, would make it much easier.

As far as the original purchases, I tried to buy pairs of sets that were similarly priced to maximize the BOGO discount. I had also purchased a number of the 30005 sets @ full price. All were spread across 2 receipts, some BOGO deals mixed in with regularly priced items.

It says quite clearly on the coupon, not valid on "prior purchases", so she was either being nice, or trying to get you out of her hair but either way it worked out for you.

Has anyone else encountered a TRU location that is NOT selling these sets at 40% off? I just went to the store closest to me and was simply told that they don't match the online prices. I was really hoping to get the TIE Defender today with the extra 25% off, but next closest TRU store is pretty far away.

It says quite clearly on the coupon, not valid on "prior purchases", so she was either being nice, or trying to get you out of her hair but either way it worked out for you.

That's what I was thinking. I expected to go back last night with the other receipts I found and have a different person at customer service tell me I couldnt do it. The girl that helped me on Tuesday night wasn't there, but another girl who was also working that night was. She was there for the first transaction and said "<<girl who helped me's name>> ok'd it, he's good." so I got another $38 credited back to my card :-).

Another couple of prices I got on some other items:

I was curious how I did overall, now that all the various discounts have been applied. I totaled up only my purchases (I had purchased multiples of the Stormtrooper minifigs and also some sets were for my neighbor who couldn't make i to the various sales). I looked up the MSRP prices on Lego's site, and totaled them up, then totaled up the sets I purchased to see overall how much I saved over MSRP...

MSRP total - $729.45
Sale total - $446.67, which is a 39% savings compared to MSRP
