As a castle it's certainly not a bad set. Two horses, a dog and lots of minifigs, including of course the ghost. A raised baseplate which is a rarer find these days. A decent # of pieces as well. Rather than Knight's Kingdom or the current Castle line, it harkens back to the sets of the middle to late 90's.
The center portion lifts out revealing a dungeon below and a blacksmith. There is a throne for the king, and the wizard has a little science lab in the center portion. The catapults and the little rock dumping device all work fine.
However in my opinion it isn't as nice as the current Castle line. The bright green base clashes with the overly used black castle wall pieces which clash with the bright blue tower accents. And while there are a lot of minifigs they just aren't as nice as the ones they make today.
So it is a perfectly fine set. I got mine as a gift, and apparently it was bought at a hefty discount too--which is the best way to get a set like this. However, I prefer the current King's Castle Seige over this set any day.
