LEGO Star Wars - Future Product Rumors/Ideas/Wishlists

An Invisible Hand is quite overdue.

It would include a flesh non-anime Count Dooku, 2 Super Battle Droids, 1 Red Security Battle Droid, 2 Magna Guards, Grevious, The Chancellor, Obi-Wan, and Anakin, and one Neomodian Captain.

It would be like the Venator, the 2006 Star-Destroyer, or what Home-One should have been.

The instructions shows the red security battle droid and the Neomdian in Dooku's Tower a.k.a Chancellor's chair room (which would esentially become the cockpit/bridge as TLG has a habit of making it on a tower and only fit one/two figs. Grevious's control room (the real command bridge), the hanger (fits one Vulture Droid), and Dooku Duel area would be in the interior below the 2-fig-fitting-tower.

now that the summer sets are out, time to start looking forward to the next wave again.

Wish List: Cloud City - in the same vein as the DS but roughly half as big. i'm thinking a large round top tier including a landing pad (with mini slave1 like they did with mini vader tie), dining room, carbon freeze room, and control room/catwalk chasm room. The bottom tier would be smaller (following the tapered shape of cloud city) and would have a torture room, ugnaut garbage room, and the antennas luke hangs off of (i'm thinking some way for the top catwalk room to open up to the antenna room below (like on the ds with the cell block -> trash compactor).

If we're talking the 7662 with new colors, not sure I'd bite on that one. If there were enough small changes (no big changes needed as I the last version was spot on) to vary the build enough I suppose I would consider, since 7662 is one of my favorite builds.

Also, I feel like TLC would find a way to charge 20-50$ more for what would be essentially the same model, and that wouldn't sit well.

I would like to see the Rebel medium transport. I think it's a really underrated vehicle in the movie and with the function of it would give it a lot of play value I think. Maybe something like magnets to hold cargo in place underneath the ship. Give it a couple of rebel troopers and a unique pilot like Wedge and baby you got a stew.

Oh man. I HATED having to protect those tin cans filled with gas in Rogue Squadron, but as a LEGO set they'd be pretty neat. In fact, I don't remember even having seen a MOC of one...

I'd be all for it. I never picked up 7662 when it was out, and don't really want to pay 200 bucks for it on the aftermarket (it seems to keep a higher price). And actually, when I saw that episode, I personally was hoping that would be released in the newer CIS colors.

Couldn't agree more. 5-10 bucks, one thing, any more than that, no I wouldn't be interested. The new AT-AT is a good example of a lesser model for a higher price, and that's not a good thing at all.

OK, so here's my wishlist/predictions for the 2011 sets. Some of these are based on what I realistically think LEGO will produce, some are based on what I'd like, and some a combination of the two.

Early 2011:
- Two battlepacks will come out. Since LEGO has been alternating back and forth between OT and PT/CW and 2010 was an OT year, these battlepacks will likely be PT based. Some form of clones is a safe bet. Which droids will be used is debatable, but Super Battle Droids, Magna-Guards, and of course regular droids are all likely options.
- I'd like to see a smaller-sized ($15-$25) OT set. Since both the Cloud Car and T-16 Skyhopper have only seen one release in LEGO history, and those were both well over 5 years ago, I wouldn't mind seeing either of them.
- Since LEGO has been updating it's TIE collection (First Vader's TIE, then the TIE Defender), I predict another new TIE will be forthcoming. I'd really like to see the TIE Bomber, since LEGO has only ever released one other version, and that was back in 2003. Of course, a regular TIE Fighter would be welcome as well, since we haven't seen it since 2005.
-There will be 2-3 Clone Wars sets, likely based off of ships from the upcoming season. As I don't follow the show, I can't even hazard a guess as to what they might be, but if there's one thing that show is good for, it's creating new ships and characters to produce licensed content off of.
- We may possibly see a small OT-based playset, similar to this year's Echo base. Perhaps it'll be something Death Star (either one) related, although a Dagobah Swamp/Yoda's Hut Playset could be fun (and possibly used as an excuse to release a new, more expensive X-Wing).

Late 2011:
We all know LEGO like's to save it's big sets for fall release...
- I predict at least one mid-scale capital ship, similar to the ISD, Tantive IV, Republic Cruiser, and Venator sets already released. Personally, I'd like to see either the Home One or Liberty Mon Cal ships released (It's really what that Home One set we got should have been in the first place). I'd imagine the Black Hand is also a viable option. The Rebel Medium Transport and Nebulon-B are pipe-dream options, but I doubt LEGO will ever actually make them.
- Perhaps a new Y-Wing or B-Wing, since we haven't seen a new one since 2007 and 2006, respectively. I also wouldn't mind seeing a new Millenium Falcon similar in size/scale to the older ones (7190 and 4504).
- A couple larger-sized PT/CW sets. Perhaps another Jedi Intereptor is in order, and perhaps another Jedi Starfighter for that matter (Because 3 isn't enough ). I'd like to see LEGO go back to Ep. III and do some Wookie sets again. A new Catamaran would be nice, for instance.
- We'll probably see a new Midi ship. I think the X-Wing and/or Y-Wing are likely options for this, since they're very well known ships (and we haven't seen a NEW X-Wing since 2006).
- I predict we'll see a large ($300+) UCS set, since we haven't seen one since the 2008 Death Star (which is rumored to be discontinued soon). I'd like to see a nice UCS Droid Control Station/Battlecruiser (They're basically the same thing except for a few antennaes on the back). If they were to make this, I (and I think others) would prefer the blue and grey version seen in Ep. III over the plain-grey versions seen in the first two films. If they were to go OT-based, I'd REEEEEEALLY like to see either the Liberty or Home One. However, I really seems like LEGO could care less about these two ships, since even when the released the so-called "Home One" set, it had nothing to do with the actual ship. Stop Hating the Mon Calimari, LEGO, their fleet was the backbone of the Rebel Alliance and the sole reason the attack at Endor succeeded.
- I think the "other" UCS set will actually be another playset. Most likely, it'll be one of the "Playset-scaled" ships like Tantive IV and ISD, as mentioned above. However, they could also release some sort of Cloud City set, perhaps containing the aforementioned new Cloud Car. I think a more likely option, though, would be something PT/CW-based. There are plenty of battles and scenes that they could do. Perhaps a Black-Hand set similar to the Home One set we got with a new Jedi Interceptor as well as scenery for the Bridge Battle along with plenty of minifigs.
- Finally, and this really falls purely under "I Wish" category, would be a new, improved version of the TIE collection that gives us two TIE FIghters, a TIE Interceptor, and TIE Bomber, all in the new black & grey color scheme, for oh, say, a cool $99.99. I'd hit that. I'd hit it hard.

I know this has been stated before but I state it again for dramatic emphasis: a decent Jabba's palace with a RANCOR PIT complete with rancor Now that there is a Twilik mold an Oola would be nice with it.

Oh for sure- I never got the original Jabba's palace, but always felt it was a sort of half-A set. The jabba was nice, but I got him later in the terrific sail barge. Also, you had to buy the two separate sets that came with Bib fortuna and the opening gate, and the Han in carbonite display. I like how these were cheap little sets you could add on, but I think the remake should simply include these.

quite frankly I think this is a strong playset that could benefit from a $100 price point, similar to home one or the hogwarts castle. you could still have the same shape as the original one, but there would be Jabba and slave Leia on a second level with an opening trap door to a nice Rancor ( I am sure it would be molded- like the Taun Taun or Wampa, but larger, like the recent Dino Attack dinos), most likely would also include Luke in black robes. Now that is already 2 larger molded figures and 2 regular. I would also love to see an Oola and maybe one of the other back ground characters. A max rebo band would be incredible, maybe these sets could be modular or maybe TLC could make it an UCS set like the Death star (cheaper though) so that it could include 16 some figs and different locales within the palace, like the throne room, Rancor pit, droid torture room, prison cells and opening gate.

I think it would be cool if they made a rancor like the Zurg and Buzz Lightyear oversized models. I think it could be done and would be a decent scale for actual play.

Anyway, some things I would like to see:
Jedi Starfighters: Kit Fisto or Mace Windu (we've seen both in the cartoon). Kit Fisto preferred since Mace's droid was mean.
Padme's ship (either that they have to land on Tatooine in The Phantom Menace or the one seen at the very beginning of Attack of the Clones). Of course it wouldn't be chrome but it would look ok in light gray.

Wow, were those v-wings? I had no idea based on the representation of the 6205 set. Maybe I need to go watch the movie again. I bought the 6205 set because I found it on clearance but really didn't know where it came from.

My predictions for the 2011 battlepacks--assuming they are indeed PT/CW based--would be a Senate Commando thing, and possibly Mandos. Now, Mandos may be a stretch, but they have the helmet design already in use, and new jetpacks to boot. This would only be a likely scenario if they're bound to be a large presence in the next season, but the assassin droids were never especially prominent, and they got a battlepack, didn't they?

Senate commandos makes total sense to me. They've now released them in two sets (one a mid-priced set), so they're not as exclusive as they once were. Senate commandos have had a major presence in the series, and they're pretty popular, they're identifiable as clones (though they actually aren't), and they look freakin sweet. Why wouldn't TLG want to market them in a smaller set?

I like that Endor battle pack idea! For those buying the Shuttle and the new At-At (along with the Endor playset) you could create some neat scenes!
