As a castle it's certainly not a bad set. Two horses, a dog and lots of minifigs, including of course the ghost. A raised baseplate which is a rarer find these days. A decent # of pieces as well. Rather than Knight's Kingdom or the current Castle line, it harkens back to the sets of the middle to late 90's.

The center portion lifts out revealing a dungeon below and a blacksmith. There is a throne for the king, and the wizard has a little science lab in the center portion. The catapults and the little rock dumping device all work fine.

However in my opinion it isn't as nice as the current Castle line. The bright green base clashes with the overly used black castle wall pieces which clash with the bright blue tower accents. And while there are a lot of minifigs they just aren't as nice as the ones they make today.

So it is a perfectly fine set. I got mine as a gift, and apparently it was bought at a hefty discount too--which is the best way to get a set like this. However, I prefer the current King's Castle Seige over this set any day.

I don't know what it is selling for at shop@home, but I own 2 of them (one still in box for my son when he comes of age) and I think its an awesome set. The generic-ness of the set (not being part of any particular castle theme) makes it a perfect addition to your castle collection, and I love the min0figs. The wizard, the king, the blacksmith are all good. Mine sits on my desk right next to my computer. A definite must own set if the price is right.

I don't think it's that good of a set. Not very detailed and just looks like a bunch of spare castle parts from the past decade thrown together...it went half off last time it was available though so I don't see why it wouldn't again if you really want it.
Don't you waste away, for tomorrow will soon be today

It's certaintly not as good as the set it was originally based on, but it still looks fairly decent.

It's worth pointing out that there are a number of copies of this set on BrickLink that are MISB and under $80. (I'm not one of the sellers)

Funny, I bought one of these for $50 CAD at a local drugstore in the clearance aisle back in December. I just assumed it was an old set they were getting rid of. Who knew that LEGO was still selling them.

It's nice, though I prefer the newer one, because its module nature allows some flexibility in setup and display. Some of the details, like in the "basement" are pretty much not visible at all, but it's a good set in general.

Good set. Not getting it though. I haven't gotten any LEGO in a while. Saving up for a new TV

Tempting... Unfortunately, I don't think I can justify paying $100. :|
