The inevitable Halo thread...

It's like the old BCS, except the 2.0 makes it fancy. Wondering why you can't post here? Check out the rules and expectations, and it all should be made clear...

Yes, it is. Long story short, when I was creating the account, my friend was doing it. Why? I dunno. And he misspelled my name. And I don't want to pay to change it, though I probably will soon.

So the other day I was at a friend's and he insisted on us playing COD:MW2. I head-shot sniped his face and what did he say: "of course you did, but you would have been dead before that if you weren't jumping around like a freak. stupid halo player".

Honestly I'm mixed. It doesn't have Halo-sounding music, and I'm not really feeling the Halo style, save for the Warthog. The new BR on the one guy's back looks pretty slick, though.

I suppose it will grow on me, but is this even Bungie at all? Their logo is present, but I thought they weren't really involved. That might be a deal-breaker for me and I might just rent it.

Anyone know when in 2010 this is scheduled for release? And when the multiplayer beta is?

Multiplayer beta is looking to happen around May 2010. Game will release sometime in the Fall.

The game is looking great but the trailer left me underwhelmed :S

Man Marc, you speak the blasphemy!

How can that trailer be underwhelming... you got some to drool over:

Multiple Spartans!
Sweet pre-Hornet but Hornet-like flying vehicle.
Weapons!
Intense music... I disagree with GIR... it sounds like Halo but in a pre-Halo kinda way.
Oh... fighting AGAINST elites again: hecks yes!
And yes, HUGE FRAKKING BATTLE!

I loved the line "you've got to leave that lone wolves stuff behind". So does that suggest a different kind of gameplay, or simply a foreshadowing?

The graphics rock, the customized Spartan armor is sweet and its suggesting that you'll still play as Sierra-117 John.

The best part is that new Halo is on its way so all those CoD people can be shown what a real game can do!

Anyone played the reach beta yet? It's a lot different! A lot more like COD and less like halo...I like it but I'm not sure I love it.

I managed to snag the beta 3 days early via codes that Bungie posted on their site. I take back most of the negative things I said about Reach, I'm loving the Beta so far :)

I'm still dumbfounded as to why Lego didn't snag the Halo license. Maybe they will, after all they got the POTC and MB had it initially.

In the hands of The Lego Company Halo would be a revenue generator on par with Star Wars and the soon to be released LOTR line.

I'd be very surprised...

POTC is pretty similar to one of their existing themes. As is LOTR.

However, it's a much greater stretch that Halo could be shoe-horned in as a replacement for Space, which would end up making it more of a competitor to Star Wars, and who in their right mind would upset that cash cow?

LEGO's answer to anyone who asked if they could start a Halo line would PROBABLY be sort of like this:

The Halo franchise has questionable content not suitable for the majority of LEGO's targeted age group (6-11). Although we understand there is a very large fan base, we feel that a LEGO Halo line would go against our core beliefs...

Understandable. But what really bugs me is the fact that LEGO has already produced models from movies that have content just as "unsuitable" as Halo. For example: Indiana Jones has some pretty gory scenes and just about every "expletive" found in Halo is just as common in Indy. Anyone agree/disagree?

Language wise Halo is much worse than Indiana Jones even includeing the new one. But do think Lego is a little paranoid about having any set that have to do with "warfare, death, first person shooter games....." I mean starwars fits in all those category's. It's not like 6-12 yearolds don't play violent games or watch violent movies. I bet there "targeted age group" would love a military theme were they weren't fighting robots or something equally dumb!
