Forum link colors and smileys

The site is set up in such that links have different colors for unvisited links and visited links.. for example

Site you have visited before
Site you have not visited before

See the difference?

Anyway the links always point to the first unread post, but that have unintended effect - all forums are always red if it have new posts.

Can you guys change it so links always point to first post, and we can always use the little icon on left to go directly to first unread posts like before?

About the smileys.. I know there is a way to cap the number of smileys to certain number. Is 5 a good limit or something? See this for an abuse example... Smiley Abuse

If not a cap, a nice post about "proper smiley use" would help.

I don't want to see a cap added, because longer posts may warrant more smilies. And we don't need a thread asking for people to relax about it, because it's only a small number of people getting out of hand. When you spot a post with too many, tell a staff member. It's that easy. We'll edit said post (as I already did with that one earlier today) and let the user know they need to improve their habits.
