Forums Are Down, Contest Is Up!

As Ace posted here, the forums are currently down while he migrates the entire site. Hopefully it will be back tonight, but we make no guarantees. In the mean time, how about a contest?

This is a quick and simple one: since the forums are down, you've got to entertain yourself - so go build something! Anything! Be it a clever vig, a massive ship, or anything in between... it's up to you. You just have to impress the staff. Build it, put it in the FBTB: flickr Outpost, and once the forums are back we'll have a thread for you to post it in. Winner(s) get(s) a Chrome Darth Vader.

Deadline is next Wednesday (7/15/09) By midnight pacific time.

Think we need a tag or a rule stating that the model must be new cause otherwise if a bunch of non-star wars models start hitting the pool I'm likely to reject them all and be mean to people

I guess I'll be the first to throw up a MOC. It's not really Star Wars, but so far the rules haven't been changed. So without furtther ado, I give you, the Orkan Fighter.

My entry is a What if kind of thing. What if the Empire built an X-Wing?

I'll only add links to the pictures here since they are large, but basically the gist of the entry is, the Emperor and Darth Vader arrive at a secret base to inspect the new X-Wing prototype. They arrive in a shuttle, Vader's Tie Advanced and 2 modified Tie Interceptors piloted by the Royal Guards. There is a small prison where captured Rebels stay when not "assisting" the Imperials in building the ship.

Here's my entry. The idea for this vig is inspired by the movie Inkheart.

Story:
After discovering a gem of great value, Jack Despin is chased by some wry, violent character. Fleeing for his life (and his newly acquired gem), Jack bolts into a library and grabs the first book he sees. Then, Jack attemps to read himself into the book, before it's too late!

The Empires invasion of Bikini Bottom did not go quite as planned.




With the Rogue Shadow shot down and the crew captured, Vader has some explaining to do. (Now we know how he got battle damaged). It is hard to see but it is Gary the snail with a blaster guarding the troopers and Patrick manning the ion cannon.

Not completely my idea. I was building the ship and my 4 year old just got the new SpongeBob magnet set and she likes to win. Then this scene just popped into my head for the contest.
