May Is The New August, Fall Assortment Now Available

This might be slightly off topic, but after reading reports of the Space Police assortment now available at Toys'R'Us, I decided to take a trip down to my local b&m store to take a look myself. Tons of stuff available from pretty much all the themes: Power Miners (2 sets), Space Police (4 sets), City (3 sets including the awesome camper), Agents (3 sets), and Racers. No Indiana Jones or Star Wars though Indy's been reported as being seen at some locations. Star Wars is still a no show at the prom but maybe they'll be making a more fashionable entrance. Could be contractually promised for August but who knows.

I wonder if these will show up soon (say, the next month or so) at S@H, LEGO stores, etc, as well, or if we'll have to wait until August for that.

I've bougth the Echo Bace and its a very cool set.

Here is hoping they have them for sale at LEGOLAND California for Star Wars days on June 13th-14th. My birthday is in July, I hate those August availability dates.

Out of randomness I went to TRU yesterday but they didn't have anything new. However, Indiana Jones and Power Miners were 10% off as reported in the Finds/Deals forum.

I dropped by the TRU outside of Zürich, Switzerland on Friday, picked up SW sets 7748/9, 8036-39 (got five free chrome vader's with my purchase - o.k., no more moaning from us in Europe that we don't get any of the extras that always appear in the USA), saw some of the new farm/city/space police sets, but no indy jones. There were, however, 2 large pallets of unpacked LEGO boxes sitting around - hmmm... maybe I'll drop by there again soon.

I hit my local TRU in Canada today and they were just unpacking them. The sets look great especially the Agents and Space Police. I was worried that the Agents sets would have the same villains but they have a few cool new ones.
Some great pieces in new colors too! Can't wait for the first sale. lol

I'm not going to say that it wont happen, but it probably wont happen. There is a reason that Lego released their own themes early (1 week before the June 1st release still is not too early, but by definition). There is a reason that Indy and SW have not been released in the states yet. I do not know any of the ins and outs, but I'm assuming that it has to do with licensing. Also, if history is any indicator...I can only think of one time in the past 10 years that I saw sets out before their "official" release. It was last August before all of the Clone Wars sets came out, and it was at Walmart. They would not sell me a Magna Guard Starfighter before the release, even though a stock person had put some out in error a few weeks early. Keep in mind this was Walmart enforcing Lego's release date. That is how seriously those things are handled. Of course, every location is different, and I'm 100% certain that these sets will start showing up before their official release, but it will be very fragmented. I doubt a Lego retail store will be the one to do it.

Furthermore, if TLG does rush the August release of the licensed themes, what is that saying about their current financial position? Have they finally felt the recession? I doubt it, but you would have to wonder why they would break tradition on the 10th anniversary of the theme.

If you go to the lego website, they already have all the new SW sets in there reletive sections, however there are no pictures and there not avaiable yet. However...exciting times lol

For every other country page this is true. Not true for the USA/Canada country pages. I honestly do not know why they have not made it to the NA pages yet, and seriously, it's ok to show the pictures now. It's not like they weren't widely circulated after Toy Fair.

I ordered mine on Lego S&H, but there were already some sets back-ordered (and they weren't available yesterday, I checked.) Time to keep checking my TRUs n Targets. (not that I haven't already been doing that for the last month....)
