Hi-Res Image of 8038 Battle of Endor

Thanks to The Brothers Brick, you can view an extremely high resolution (3666 x 2531) image of 8038 Battle of Endor in Chewk's flickr stream. You can see a lot of detail, including the creepily painted eyes on the Ewoks, Leia's new hair mold, Endor Rebel Trooper helmets, and more.

I love just how complete this set is. If you're a kid, you can pretty much play out the whole Endor battle with just this one set. Unlike recent high dollar sets like the AT-TE and Gunship that are woefully low on clonetroopers, TLC seemingly went out of its way to make this set a one stop shop. They will sell so many of these.

Not to say that ewoks and Endor Rebel Troopers won't fetch big after-market bricklink and ebay dollars for all of us AFOLS that feel the need to have as many as depicted on screen.

I particularly like the guns on the chicken walker. I like the 2007 model, but I always felt the guns were both weak looking and fragile to play with.

Well this set wasen't on my wish list but I guess I could add it now. The AT-ST is awesome and very detailed like a mini UCS AT-ST and the best part... no flick-fires!

I would've liked more bunker instead of the AT-ST, but definitely plan to get this set.

Glad to see the new R2 dome is being used in this set. Is the new dome piece going to be used for all R2s from now on, or just in special (i.e. high dollar) sets?

Always good to see more scout troopers. Hopefully they and the Endor rebels will be seeing battle packs soon.

I'm looking forward to this set. The At-St is one of my favorite Star Wars vehicles and it's nice to see it rendered beautifully with Lego. Plus I really want some Ewoks and a gray domed R2!

Seems a bit steep at $99, but not too surprising given the recent trend in LEGO SW set pricing. Pretty cool, though.

I am stoked to see we'll be getting a chrome-dome Artoo (I know it's not really chrome, but "chrome-dome" has a nice ring)! The troopers, both Endor and Imperial, are going to be welcome additions to anyone's minifig collection, and the dark green base plates look sweet, too. I thought that this set was going to be $89.99, though? $100 is a bit more than I was planning/hoping to spend, but it isn't going to deter me in the least. . . in fact, after seeing it "close up" in these high-res shots, I'm considering getting two!

the ONLY thing lacking in this set is a threepio figure and MAYBE a stormtrooper. Otherwise, this set pretty much covers every single wish list item on what to include in an endor set. could they have broken it into smaller pieces? perhaps, but let's face it, you'd be buying up all the individual sets anyway amirite?

That is a valid point. It's easy to overlook the fact that the set has a dozen figs when you're looking at them one at a time in a 3446x5440 image. Still...it's expensive and seems a bit steep to me. My gut tells me a set this size with 3 or 4 figs (which was the norm until fairly recently) might have run around $69.99 to $79.99 and my gut doesn't compensate for that expectation just because there are some extra figs thrown in. That's not to say the price doesn't make sense...it does...but the figs throw off the price balance, confusing my "eyeball a set and guess the price" meter.

And an AT-ST driver, of course, but yeah (well, and just "more!" of everything, but one can always say that...).

But yeah, the price seems quite in line considering the piece count.

Edit: 11? I make out 12 - Han, Leia, Chewie, Artoo, two Rebel troopers, three Ewoks, two biker scout, one Imperial trooper. Is some heathen leaving out Artoo because he's not a traditional humanoid character minifig? Blasphemy!

That's why it's $100. People can complain all they want but when they still buy the item, Lego doesn't care. Of course $100 is overpriced. Everyone arguing against that point is just trying to feel better about themselves forking out the money for an open hut and a small technic robot with barely enough room for chewie to fit inside.

Though what was overpriced a year ago is now the norm for Lego.

Now now, in my defense, the only reason I was prepared to spend $90 is because that's what the projected price was when the ToyFair images came through (btw, thanks to Ace and Mike for tagging all of those flickr photos with projected price points, very thoughtful!). As some have pointed out, this set is loaded with minifigs, a fact that I merely overlooked in my euphoric hysteria over this gold mine of awesomeness! For the piece count and all the figs, $100 is absolutely fair (IMO).
