Lego Harry Potter: The Video Game

Postby dandaman62 » Tue Mar 31, 2009 2:35 pm

Well, now that the Lego Harry Potter Video Game has been announced, perhaps we could come up with some ideas for the game. Here are my ideas. The level area should of course be Hogwarts. I think the levels should be the the first four harry potter films, and then in 2011 they can release a second game on the last four films. I've made a level list, and I would be happy for your feedback!

Lego Harry Potter The Video Game

Philosopher’s Stone

1. Gringotts
2. Flying Lesson
3. Troll on the Loose
4. Quiddich
5. Forbidden Forest
6. Through the Trapdoor

Chamber of Secrets

1. Knockturn Alley
2. Follow the Hogwarts Express
3. Whomping Willow
4. Polyjuice Potion
5. Search for Aragog
6. The Chamber of Secrets

Prisoner of Azkaban

1. The Knight Bus
2. Dementors
3. Snitch in a Storm
4. Hogsmeade
5. Shrieking Shack
6. Travels in Time

Goblet of Fire

1. Quiddich World Cup
2. Death Eater Attack
3. Dragon’s Arena
4. Attack of the Merpeople
5. Inside the Maze
6. Graveyard Duel

Wasn't there a Lego/Creator Harry Potter PC video game released back in the initial waves of Lego Harry Potter product? It was sold in a jewel case IIRC. Like 2002-2003? And it was .. kinda bleh? I would imagine the new one will have the same engine as SW, Batman, Indy, etc.

That game rocked. Never diss LEGO Creator: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, ever. EVAR!

BTW, when you said "Quidditch World Cup" and "Death Eater Attack", you are referring to one basic scene. I don't see how two levels could be made, but that's my opinion. Overall though, I think your level "plans" sound neat. The different movies should be represented by the four common rooms. (Gryffindor Tower, Ravenclaw Tower, Slytherin Dungeon, and Hufflepuff uh,...room). The main area should be the Great Hall, and mini models should go on the grounds or something.

I thought that at first when I read his ideas for levels in Goblet of Fire. However, there is a difference between what are essentially different scenes in a book and what make good video game levels. If the Lego HP game allowed you to actually play Quidditch in the first level (as oppose to the standard fare "adventure" type level, kind of like the Battle of Courescant level in LSW) then it makes absolute sense to do it this way. Besides that, I can't think of what else would qualify as a good level for that book, although admittedly it's been a few years since I've read it.

Yeah, I'm starting to see that the "vehicle" levels would most likely be on broom. That would work. However, instead of two flying levels in S. Stone (Flying Lesson and Quidditch), there should be just one.

I decided to change the Flying Lesson level to when harry and ron a simply going to the lesson. In other words, a whole level of Hogwarts, and Peeves could be a quick boss at the end. Oh yeah, and the Quiddich World Cup level is meant to be when you actually play in the match, I only put this in cause I couldn't think of another suitable level.

Is this game really confirmed in any way? All I saw on this is that someone putted in the resumé that they did work on the game, but that could have been for a marketing pitch to LEGO. That doesn't really prove the game will actually be released.

(But if you have any confirmation on the game other than that, please share the information.)

Nothing in this article confirms without a doubt that there will be a LEGO Harry Potter game. Like I said, for all we know, that person could have been working on a game project so that TT could pitch the idea to LEGO (with some visuals to show LEGO of what it would look like), hence why TT would be "not happy" that it got out.

In short, the game is still a rumour...

well, even if it is a rumor, I'm sure TT won't pass up the chance with a Harry Potter Game. I mean, the franchise is huge.

ok, i need your help guys. I've made a level list for Order of the Phoenix (tell me what you think) but I'm having trouble with Half-Blood Prince, and I was wondering if I could have some suggestions. What should the first level be? Harry and Dumbledore looking for Slughorn, Spinner's End. Also now the movie's added the Attack on the Burrow scene, that could help.

Order's List

Order of the Phoenix

1. Demented Summer
2. Journey to Grimmuald Place
3. Secret Mission
4. Thestral Flight
5. Department of Mysteries
6. Wizard Duel

I like your ideas for Order of the Pheonix, but I think that Department of Mysteries and Wizard Duel should be combined. Maybe you should have one with Umbridge in it.

Also, for a bonus level, it could be the Epilouge in Deathly Hallows. XD

I find this funny. I posted an idea for a Lego Harry Potter game on fbtb a few years ago before this was announced and fbtb revamped itself.
Anyway, here were my original ideas
Sorcerer's Stone
1.Diagon Alley
2. Hogwarts (classes, Troll, Fluffy)
3.Gryffindor vs. Slytherin
4.Nighttime Antics (Norbert, Mirror of Erised,)
5. Forbidden Forest
6. Through the Trapdoor
7. The Sorcerer's Stone

Chamber of Secrets
1. Flight to Hogwarts (includes Knockturn Alley)
2.Second Year (Whomping Willow, Deathday Party, 1st attack, DADA class)
3. Rouge Bludger
4.Dueling Club
5. Polyjuice Potion
6. Aragog
7.The Chamber of Secrets

Prisoner of Azkaban
1. Knight Bus
2. The Hogwarts Express (includes Leaky Cauldron, Dementor attack on train)
3. Buckbeak
4. The Marauder's Map
5. Anti-Dementor Lessons
6. The Prisoner of Azkaban
7. The Time Turner

Goblet of Fire
1. The Dark Mark
2. The Goblet of Fire
3. The First Task
4. The Yule Ball
5. The Second Task
6. The Third Task
7. Lord Voldemort

Order of the Phoenix (no specific flying levels though many flying sections)
1. Dementor Attack
2. 12 Grimmauld Place
3. The Ministry Intervenes (Detention, Grawp, classes)
4. Dumbledore's Army
5. Op. Umbridge (educational decrees, swamps, Fred & George)
6. Department of Mysteries
7. Duel in the Ministry

Half-Blood Prince
1. The Wizarding World at War (Slughorn & Train spying)
2. The Green Mist (6th year)
3. Quidditch
4. Horcruxes (Memories of Voldemort)
5. The Attack on the Burrow
6. The Cave
7. The Seige of Hogwarts

Deathly Hallows
1. Attack in the Air
2. Magic is Might (infiltrating the Ministry)
3. The Silver Doe
4. Malfoy Manor
5. Breaking into Gringotts
6. Defending Hogwarts
7. The Final Stand

I think you may have too much in some levels. Having classes, troll and fluffy in one level is too much. Plus what exactly would you do in the Yule Ball level?

I dunno I just don't see a Lego Harry Potter game being released...just cuz the sets have been discontinued for sometime now and Lego has not interests making them anymore.

There is that. However, LEGO Batman was made when the sets were tapering out on the shelves. With WB having bought Traveller's Tales, and supposedly being keen on developing their own properties, Harry Potter SEEMS to be at the top of the logical list for a LEGO game (maybe right after another Batman outing, even though no more of those sets seem to be in the works), since it HAS been released in LEGO form before.
