30070 Alien Space Ship (Toy Story Impulse size set)

Postby THX 1138 » Wed Jul 07, 2010 7:35 pm

I'm sorry if this question has already been answered, but is 30070 (link: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=30070-1) available in stores like Target or TRU in the US? I'd sort of like to get it, since it has one of the aliens, which I really like, and I don't want to buy a larger set just for them. I haven't seen much about it. Is it one of the Daily Mirror sets like the small SW sets, or is it just an impulse set?

I believe it was a Brickmaster exclusive. I think so, because TLG rarely sells polybags in stores. it's not an impulse, I know that much.
I build it so you don't have to!

There are tons of these available in Canada's TRU.

I second that. There are LOTS of these in Canadian TRUs. The fig is awesome and the parts are a bonus. $5 is a bit much for a fig but what the heck :-)

you're just making stuff up as you go along aren't you?

these have not been available in the U.S. short of a bricklink seller.

Its better to get this at $5 than the 3 figure magnet pack at $20. :)

What, no! I saw a review on EB, and was dishing out what I remembered.

I believe in the UK it was free with a token collect on bananas at Tesco.

I've been going to TRU on Fridays during my lunch break to see if they're in the US yet. I wish they'd just release sets the same time everywhere around the globe.

It sounds like I won't be able to get it in any stores in the US. I'll probably just try to get the fig in one of my next Bricklink orders. Thanks for your info, everybody!

Don't lose hope– one of the TRUs I checked over the weekend had a stack of the polybags on an island, probably 15 to 20 in all.

On another note... It seems odd given that the set's overall weight is so negligible and there aren't that many pieces to be missing, but has anyone run into parts being MIA with these polybags? I picked up a few from that store– three were fine, but one was missing the 1x4 white plate, a cheese, and the alien's torso. (Already submitted a missing parts request.)

I saw a ton of them at the Annapolis, MD TRU over the weekend, hopefully they'll stick around for awhile. I got 3 and all mine were complete

they were and still are ... collect 3 tokens from kids range bananas / apples / pears / oranges and then send off a cheque for £2.29 and you'll get this set. I ordered 3. They came pretty quickly. :)

Toys R Us in Olathe KS near the (not so)Great Mall had a bunch of them on an endcap basket near the rest of the Lego for $2.99, and the Overland Park store at 95th ST also had them in the Lego section for $3.49.

Fun little impulse set, I only picked up 1, but might have to snag a few more next time at the store.
