On Brent Waller's unofficial LEGO Ghostbusters Facebook page where he shares all things related to LEGO ghost bustin', he has posted a side by side comparison of the new official set sent to him and his original project submission. I've reposted a couple of the pics here, but by all means go check out his page to see the rest. I'll just say it again for the record, regardless of the nitpicking of some, I can't wait to get this set and since it is set to be released next month, I won't have to wait much longer.

I actually enjoy the Lego version this time around. It feels like a more sleek and tight model. After the Back to the Future Delorean official build it was important that they succeeded with the translation. Fun. Everyone wins. Score one for Cu...Lego Ideas.

I prefer the Lego version too. More compact but with more detail/greebling - especially up top. Great little set.

The only thing I do not like as much is the fins at the back of the car; they look much more stylish and sleek on the prototype

It looks like they really didn't deviate too much. Some subtle detail changes, like the front and rear fenders and the differing windscreen. But same basic size and footprint, and even a few detailing improvements from the prototype, such as the wheels. By far the best CuuSoo set yet, and probably as close to flawless as they will get. Granted Brent's near perfect prototype certainly helped. It was obviously good enough that they were able to jump ahead in line with it and go quickly to production.

Fascinating comparison! Just for kicks, I added what looks like a pretty film-accurate "Hot Wheels Elite" model to the side-view comparison.

The official LEGO model seems to come closer to the overall shape, although the original submission definitely has some pluses -- like the slopes at the front of the hood, and the more accurate wheel placement. In any case, this looks great, and I'm really looking forward to picking it up!
