Star Wars the Old Republic Release date announced

I just checked my emails, and for those of you interested, Star Wars the Old Republic will hit store shelves on 12-20-2011.

Waiting on the pre-order, waiting on the computer to play it, and setting up guild and stuff online. Fun stuff...

I had an invite to play the BETA but was unable to due to my location and incredibly slow satellite connection.
I look forward to playing it when I return home if life affords me the time.

Everything I've seen of it so far looks great.

Eh, nothing personal, but I've got a group I run around, and given how people play in MMOs, compared to conduct themselves in other places... I wouldn't want to have the site attached to it.

So who's playing?

It's a little painful playing on my old laptop and on with a 1200ms lag satellite connection but I'm loving it so far. The voice acting is great and a lot of the little touches like getting in game emails from characters really help the story.

I'm playing! Loving the voice acting too. One of the problems I had with WoW was you really didn't have to read anything for the quests, just get the high points from the tracker and go. I had no connection to any characters there, but each of the ones i've created for SWTOR have a purpose, a story, and i'm trying to make sure the choices i make is what they would.

i'm loving the prelim shots of the SWTOR sets for summer. I have a couple of MIDI star destroyers lying around, thinking of changing up to the SWTOR style sith star destroyer! Getting lots of good ideas from the vehicles and places though!

No, there wasn't an FBTB guild set up, and there are no plans to create one.

Been playing since the first day of early access. Finally got my first 50 the other day, my Chiss Powertech (Bounty Hunter). Took me awhile simply because I kept playing other classes and enjoying the story. I've gotten 2 others into the 30s (both warriors, funny enough), and a couple others into the 20s. It's an absurdly fun game, and a great deal, since you get what is effectively eight sequels to KoToR with it...

How do the pets and stuff work ? I been reading on it and thinking trying Shadow job... baught the game already just waiting on my alienware to arrive... seems to take a while for those.

Companions would be the equivalent to a WoW pet, and I actually like them. You can turn their abilities on and off, they come in different roles (tank, dps, healer) and they play a big part in your story, and are the only ones who can craft or go on gathering missions. Right now on my trooper and smuggler who are past chapter 1, I can deploy up to 3 of my 4 companions (including the ships protocol droid which they make a big deal about him not being able to fight) for crafting or gathering missions. The only problem with them, is just like yourself, they need to have their equipment updated just like you. In fact, some side-quest or story-line quests will give rewards that help equip them, but you have to pick which reward -- do i want to update my dps companion's armor, or the healers...
