New LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar

A Modular Life is reporting on a new LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar for 2011. This will be, hands down, the number one best and fastest selling Advent Calendar ever. I really hope this set is at the New York Toy Fair this weekend.

Not sure about this one. Really liked the Kingdoms one my daughter got last year since it came with 9 minifigures including Prince, Queen, Blue Wizard, and Wench that are not currently available in other Kingdom sets as got parts to make some little areas like a blacksmith shop(forge, anvil, weapons rack, armor rack) and kitchen (stove, keg, pig, kettle).

While 1 or 2 mini vehicles might look cool in the window of the winter village toy shop I do not really want like 15 of them and unless they are intentionally hiding stuff the best items usually show up on the front of the box so the other half is not as good as these parts?

It looks LEGO is using the same tactic to sell these Advent Calendars as they do to sell sets: the all-important exclusive minifig.

Somehow I was hoping/dreaming of several minifigs and little scenes - like the city or kingdom calendars

I hope Lego realizes that this is going to sell exceptionally well and will have a decent stock of them to sell. I'm certainly going to pick at least one up the first week they come out. However I always feel bad for the well-intentioned parent that has every intention of getting their kids a Lego set but doesn't realize how fast the sets sell before Christmas.

Are these really micro models since they all seem to be smaller than the normal mini model versions?

those aren't just mini models... they're umm... micro?
regardless of nomenclature, i think they're cute and fit well into the calendar's restraints.
the yoda fig is a win,
but the others are a bit of a disappointment.

I thought somebody reported that this would have a George Lucas minifig in it? Can't imagine that wouldn't show up on the front of the box, if true.

Is that a non-Clone Wars Yoda head or the regular Clone Wars one? I'm almost more excited about the Santa torso on him. Throw some regular, red legs on that, replace the hands with white ones, add the fisherman beard from the collectible minifig, and any of a number of appropriate heads, and you are one decent Santa hat away from a REAL Santa minifig.

This does look disappointing compared to the City/Castle advent calendars that have come out recently. I wouldn't expect any little scenes - just micro ships and minifigs. Heck, it could just be 24 micro ships and Ho-Ho-Ho-da on the 25th...

But as was mentioned before, the best of the best is always shown on the front.

Seems like a nice idea for kids, but I'll pass, unless future pics convince me otherwise.

Just wait until that Santa suit shows up a month after this sells out in some other advent calendar or set ....if it doesn't though, WOW what an exclusive but that's too good of a suit to be used ONLY on Yoda. I would however lean more towards a Jango or Boba Claus.

On a side note, given that every advent calendar has has a single item per day I'm guessing there will be lot's more than just what's on the cover. Maybe mouse droids, sentinels, and countless other oddities but it should be a nice mix. And for the droid haters, at least it's a pilot droid and not a standard droid.
