New product? Thinkgeek has a Vader keychain/flashlight listed:

http://www.thinkgeek.com/geek-kids/3-7-years/e7eb/

I've seen the regular minifig keychain/flashlights in stores, but not a Vader one. Also: IIRC it should be about twice as big as a normal minifig, right?

if you're going to comic con, i've been told that the lego booth will have the whole summer line up available there.

Sweet! Not sure if I'll pick anything up right away, but I might splurge here and there. XD

Looks like some of the new sets have appeared at TRU in stock and at MSRP. I think if I found the podracers in store I'd be really tempted to buy it. I need to get my Lego fix, it's been a few months since I bought anything.

Edit: Removed links. Prices increased.

All summer sets except for the Night Speeder are on the TRU shelves in Memphis.

I picked up the only Frigate they had left (and they were not on the shelf yesterday) and a Goneosian Fighter (2 left). Luckily, other then Maces Fighter, these are the main sets I was after as they give me all the new Jedi and Clones. I will pick up the rest as they go on sale.

I didn't get pic of the rest as I am not comfortable photographing retailers shelves.

Checked out a couple of TRU stores in Las Vegas, and called one in California. They do not have any sets in stock, so perhaps the west coast will get them soon. I should just wait for them to hit the Lego Store to get VIP points, but not sure if I can be patient that long. Really can not wait for the new SSD to hit the Lego Store.

Checked out my local TRU here in Columbus, and they had the new sets, sans podracers, in fact an associate was literally putting out a fresh box of one of them as a I rounded the corner. I was tempted to buy something last night, but there were no price tags yet so I gave the Sith speeder and Geonosian fighter a quick check and both were already 10% over MSRP, and considering how little we are getting for the price these days, it was hard to justify the additional cost. Haha Lego should never have come out with those smaller boxes, because from a buyers point, I'm holding this box (geonosian fighter) that would have been a $20 a couple years ago, and now it's $33...

I'm going to wait for Target or Walmart.... Or my lego store, at least there I will gain points for the purchases. I already miss borders, and their coupons, could have gotten some money off at least

Yeah, these newer boxes mess up my "value" perception. I like the smaller boxes and appreciate them, but Lego should've introduced them before prices started climbing. It's getting harder and harder to justify my Star Wars Lego (and Lego in general) purchases.

Hi-res of 7879, provided by grogall of Eurobricks:

And an explanation of the gantry, provided by gratefulnat of Eurobricks:

gratefulnat wrote:You [Fallenangel] are spot on about the gantry - it can be raised and lowered, and it can be removed. I assume the 2x2 round brick is meant to represent a magnet (or something similar) with which the ships are lifted with and held in place ... [b]ut considering the size of the gantry, you will not get anyhing other than the nose of a system x-wing through it.

Minor complaint time: Anybody want to guess why there's a green branch/vine on a ladder in this set? Should I take extra 1x1 trans red and make a Christmas wreath or something? I don't recall seeing any indication of plant life on Hoth. I could understand if they wanted to make it a white piece to represent an icicle or something along those lines.

Amidala, finally! New TIE Fighter, eh, I like it, but judging by it's appearance and the figs there is now way it's going to be less than $50.

Awesome job, Meat @ Rebelscum!

I'm assuming a new thread dedicated to these sets will be created soon since they're for January 2012.

Gut feel is that they wouldn't have produced the 'conical' R2 unit's headpiece if they weren't planning a return to the lars farm... be it in the form of another Sandcrawler or the farm itself with T16 etc?

...and that Tie is nice.

Picked up some of the newer sets (Podracers, Hoth, Ewok, Geonosian Starfighter). Going to work on reviews and pictures today and tomorrow.

As a quick aside, if you see the podracer set, you should get it. Very, very nice.
If the above post didn't offend you, you're probably reading it wrong.

ah we can only hope- I feel like the first sandcrawler was a niche set that some of us either grabbed up or waited too long and missed. It's funny now thinking how the $140-150 price point seemed so high, now its a little bit above average for the large sets of the series. I would love to see a re-vamp of the sandcrawler, but definitely want to see a Lars homestead more, hopefully with a t-16 or Lars' family speeder. Would be great if it is a multi level playset.

These figs look great, so glad to see a new astromech piece. As for Amidala- so glad we are finally getting such an iconic gown in minifig, though i find it interesting that they are planning a molded dress rather than the typical slop piece used for gowns in the past- can't wait to see the set she comes with, hopefully its a Theed playset

Why did the 2012 SW sets get locked by dWhisper? It's the 2012 counterpart to this thread and makes more sense.
