The People vs George Lucas

Postby meeotch » Tue Feb 17, 2009 11:50 pm

Trailer for The People vs. George Lucas.

So apparently, there's a documentary being made about this topic. Personally, I don't really feel that the way Star Wars is now (with the merchandising, including Legos, and PT and all that stuff) ruins what Star Wars was before all that. Then again, I didn't get really into Star Wars before all that, so I don't really have an experience of that. I'm sorry, I know this is probably a tired conversation, but I thought people would be interested to at least know that this film's being made, and if I'm correct, there's still time to submit content to the filmmaker if you want. Deadline is 9/30/2009. Website is http://www.peoplevsgeorge.com

I saw a trailer for this and it was quite amusing. I like to joke about him ruining the story and being all evil and stuff, but I'm beyond the delusion that Star Wars is nothing more than a cash cow since the late nineties and as it's his story he can do whatever he wants with it.

Maybe lucas should stop relieing so heavily on CGI in his films and stick with live action. While CGI is brilliant for enhancing effects it shouldent be used for entire sets and characters. You only have to watch the new indiana to see how CGI completely ruins that film.

Well, I've seen the KOCS (as the majority here, I guess), and I can assure that the CGI does not ruin it at all.

The plot itself, on the other hand.. ;)

Have you seen the ending? Watch that and then tell me effects don't ruin it.

Yep, seen the ending. I don't at least remember the effects ruining the scene..

It's been a while, though, so I can recall incorrectly.

Effects don't ruin it. It's a good film, and I like it a lot... but then I'm a crackpot conspiracy theorist who believes in UFOs, so I may be slightly biased ;)

As for this documentary, I think it could be interesting as long as it's done very 'tongue-in-cheek'.

This should be interesting. Although I prefer the OT, I actually like some of the prequels, with (don't yell at me) TPM being my favorite, cuz it's got Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon, my two favorite jedi.

I'll be looking forward to seeing this. Though I'm a little surprised its getting a theatrical release, since documentaries are usually just straight to DVD or TV. It does look interesting, so I'll see it.

I bet everyone noticed the LEGO Han and Greedo in the trailer, but I just wanted to point that out in case anyone didn't.

I don't know why I dropped back here again lately. LEGO can no longer hold my interest, and I'm almost certainly gone forever. Bye to all who remember me.

Wow! This is very interesting! Hopefully we'll get a bundle of Lego fans in there too.

I doubt it - without the prequels there would be no Star Wars LEGO.

Did Gene Roddenberry ever get this much flak from the trekkies? Did Scientologist hate L. Ron Hubbard when the Battlefield Earth movie was so bad?

If I was F. Lee Baily, and George Lucas' defense lawyer, I would have to play the "Get-a-Life" card during the trial.

I don't get it. These people make it out that SW belongs to them.

George Lucas made the fans, not the other way round.

I don't like everything in SW, there are errors in the prequels, but the orginal trilogy (Except for the Ewoks) will always be part of my life and work field. It cannot please everyones tastes down to the last minute. Like what you like, dislike what you dislike... But it's so lame to be wasting time and energy in going against someone's creative work. I would like to see what these people can make?

Anyway, the documentary appears a worth while watch, but more on exploring a human nature than rather the errors in SW.

Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the newest Indiana Jones film. And, apparently, a village in Hungary.

I'm actually kind of interested to see this. I'd like to see what people submit from around the world.
