Dash Rendar's Outrider (alternate model 6211)

Someone tried to build the Outrider?
I tried and i followed the instruction downloadable from here: http://starwars.lego.com/en-us/Products ... /6211.aspx

but.... it's not "stable"... i had to unbuild after 60-70% it because every time i tried to put a new brick... another one "crashes" from the other side...

now i built the T-16 (the other alternate model from 6211 set) and briks seems to "survive"

anyone else had the same troubles?

My son attempted to build the Outrider and encountered problems similar to what you describe. He eventually gave up. He was only 7 at the time, but he was (and is) a pretty competent LEGO builder. I never bothered because I'm not too enthusiastic about "Expanded Universe" stuff.

I did build the other alternate model (a T-16 Skyhopper, not an Imperial Shuttle, though I will grant the similarities). That had its tricky bits, but ended up pretty stable when finished.

I bought the set because I could make the outrider, then I built it and as you said it was not stable. I have tried to make a modified version, but have not been able to put in the necessary time.

I bought 6211 just for the Outrider model and the minifigs, but as other people have posted it is more flimsy than the star destroyer itself. Also it does not look right in the canopy area and seems too round in the back.(based on pictures from wookieepedia.com it does not look that round in the back) I instead made my own outrider using pieces from the original falcon set and my collection : )

Hmm, I remember building this a while ago, as well as the T-16 and I don't remember having any major problems with it. In my opinion, it's not a great looking model anyways. The T-16 to me looks so much better and it is huge. This thread is making me want to build it again!

I just wanted to say thanks for reminding me of the alternate builds. I forgot about these, and it's a great way to maximize enjoyment versus $$.

When I got the set I thought I first build the Outrider because I had just finished reading Shadows of the Empire. But after a few steps I decided to stop, because I was afraid for my fingers and finger nails when having to disassemble the whole thing again for then building the ISD.
