Just saw it also on Shop at home. I think it's really a cool model, but I'm astonished by the price differences !
I just compared UK, US & European prices :

- US : 249 $
- UK : 466.35 GBP = approx. 238 $
- France : 259.99 EUR = approx. 333 $
- Switzerland : 449 CHF = approx. 387 $

As you can see, I'll have to pay almost 140 $ more, just because I live in Switzerland...
Of course, I can understand that due to the rate changes, there might be some price differences. But so much, it's crazy ! I wrote a mail to Lego, asking them why there are such differences. I wait for their answer.

Anyway, I still want to buy it, to continue my collection. And I'll try to have somebody shipping it to me from the UK, so I can save some money !

oh dear ... as always, it's not as simple as using todays exchange rate to compare prices across the various geographies!

Anyways, at £166 it's too expensive for me. Maybe I'll get it if it's reduced in some way in the future.

Most people thought that the General Grievous set was overpriced and what happened to that?! It ended up being 50% off on S@H. I'm hoping this set goes the same way.

This set is only 100 or so pieces more than the Sandcrawler and yet is £61 more expensive. That shows a lot, so anyway, it's one I will play a waiting game on I reckon

Most impressive. Great detailing on the LAAT/c, the *wampa* decal is cool too. The attention to detail is great too, only 1 pilot, no missiles on the top engines, etc. The AT-OT is nice too, and the folding head is neat. My only complaint is that it seems too thin, especially in comparison to the AT-TE, which is quite bulky. Still, great set, and well done to LEGO!

Man I was so excited about this set when I first saw it but $250 is so much. They need to bring back the 10 cents/per brick. I can't be spending 15 cents/brick in the midst of a recession. Who am I kidding? I'll probably still get it. LEGO has suckered me again.

But honestly, for a Republic Dropship that is less functional than the Republic Gunship and an AT-OT walker that is less sleek than an AT-TE, i don't think I should have to pay $50 more than those sets combined..

And I don't think the amount of minifigs is a big deal. You can get 4 clones for $10 in a battle pack now, and lets not forget the amazing MTT that had 20 Droids.

Still a nice looking set, too bad it's so expensive

clones wont sell this set. there is a clone bp remember? 8 clones, that's $20 worth at most.

this set will have to sell on design merit alone and i am not sure that is worth $250 asking price (and more expensive for the rest of the world).

you can probably download the instruction, BL the parts, buy clone bps to completely fill the at-ot with troops and still end up cheaper than $250. the question is whether your time and effort is worth the savings.

I'm not expecting it to go on sale quickly ... General Grievous didn't afterall, but, given that this set has no unique figures and will only appeal to a limited market (not every Lego fan can or wants to spend that much on 1 set) then it's bound to go on sale at some point in the future.

I won't be buying it until that happens and if it never happens then I just won't buy it.

I am really excited for this set. One thing I'm thinking about, however, is it seems no one outside of TLG had so much as a whiff of this coming down the pipeline. I find it interesting that out of all the 2009 sets (barring, of course, others that haven't been "leaked"), what is arguably the coolest vehicluar build was able to be kept secret until right before it's released. The buzz about this set all over the internets is huge, and I think Lego played their hand very well. They would have to in order to justrify the hefty asking price. I just think that it shows that TLG's "security issues" may very well be planned marketing strategy.

2009 is going to be a great year for Lego. This isn't the cherry on the top of the cake, it's a whole extra cake!
