75046 Coruscant Police Gunship

7504675046-1

75044 Droid Tri-Fighter

7504475044-1

The Coruscant Police Gunship popped up on Brickset today and a little bit of digging pins the source as a Dutch merchant's facebook page, originally spotted by Hoth Bricks. As with the rest of the 2014 sets revealed recently the images are the extent of the details. The Gunship is notable for being the only new ship in the entire wave. The Droid Tri-Fighter is on it's third revision if I'm remembering correct, now with the brand new spring loaded missiles of course and what appears to be Chancellor Palpatine in handcuffs. Someone up to date with the Clone Wars cartoon will have to fill me in as to why.

Thanks for the heads up Chris.

The droid fighter set is an Episode III set, not a Clone Wars set. Palpatine is in handcuffs and that gray outfit like he was at the beginning of Episode III on Dooku's/Grievous' ship.

I believe that in early drafts of the script for Episode III (no don't laugh, yes there was one, apparently) rather than having Palpy crash land with the super-best-friend-Jedi-buddies in a giant starship, GL wanted him to leap out of the bridge Point Break style, without a parachute, freefall for a few miles, then land on a droid tri-fighter and para-surf it down to the surface yelling "Cowabunga"

This wave is a joke, seriously.

Missiles everywhere.

I don't watch the show, so I need someone to clarify something for me. Is the design of the ship really that bat, or is it just a bad representation by Lego?

I though they actually have done a great job replicating the gunship, which looked pretty challenging.

Agreed. But would have preferred if that piece was clear or smoked, or even trans-light blue instead of red. Oh well.

The red and blue gives it an old school Space Police feel so I don't hate it. Considering it's a "police gunship" I almost want to believe they did that on purpose.

So many sets for just the winter release. Are some of these summer releases or are they just filling the shelves with tons of smaller sets.
