New Feature: Set Ratings and Comments

Postby onions » Fri Jan 07, 2011 11:21 pm

You should be able to see a new forum up top, "Star Wars":

viewforum.php?f=34

which has a topic for each star wars set in the set guide. You can now rate sets and add mini reviews. latest 5 comments will show up on the set's entry in the guide. the ratings will show up as well. one caveat about that is that the entries are cached pages, so comments and ratings may not show up right away, but they will eventually as time passes and the cache cleans itself out.

comments are moderated on that particular board, so please follow the format if you want your comment/mini review to be approved. thanks!

if anything's broken or need fixing, please let me know.

Just a thought: I think that the initial post of each of the threads in the Ratings and Comments section should have a picture of the set being discussed.

Something else, I noticed you don't have any instructions up on any of the set guides, while there is a place for a link to some. Lego Customer Service provides a PDF of the instructions for most, if not all (not so sure about really old) sets. Just thought you might be able to provide a link to those for everyone, too.
May the mass times acceleration be with you!

Just a minor thing, but the Toy Story set guide has everything but the 7599 Garbage Truck Getaway. Any reason?

onions,

Just out of curiosity, are you planning on eventually adding ALL licensed themes LEGO has ever done? I know that's the direction you've indicated this site was heading in. Because, just off the top of my head, that would include (in addition to SW and TS):

- Avatar
- Batman
- Ben 10
- Harry Potter
- Indiana Jones
- Prince of Persia
- Spiderman
- Speed Racer

I might be missing a few and of course we'll likely see more in the future. I think it would be nice if, after you get done with Star Wars, you were to start working on these as well, probably starting with the more popular ones like Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, and Batman.

yes that is the plan. pirates of the caribbean is nearly complete. just waiting on some images and pricing info.

harry potter 2010 is in the works.

after toy fair, we'll be working on entering the new sets from the event into the database.

after that, we'll be going back in time and filling in the missing years for star wars, and possibly other themes at the same time.

mofojones is currently slaving away at some of this work, but there's a lot to go through. anyone want to volunteer for some work?
