[CAN] Zellers liquidation deals

Some of the Zellers stores that are slated to become Targets or Walmarts have started liquidating their inventory. My nearest one has 20% off all toys including LEGO. This includes some 2012 sets as well. i picked up some of the Dino sets as well as a Tie Fighter all at 20% off. Not too bad a price for sets you need, but I'll be stopping at the store regularly from now on as they continue to mark stuff down. Hopefully I'll have enough spare cash when the discounts start reaching 40% or more off.

Hm. My local one won't start liquidation until the summer - I guess they're rolling out changes in different centres at different times. Still, here's hoping for some decent sale items to present themselves...

Individual stores will have control over the discounts, so sales will fluctuate wildly based on a stores sales. Either way, as the deadline approaches there should be some deep discounts if there's any stock left. Last round of closures, I scored a pile of random sets at prices that ranged fro good to Yippie!

Other areas had even better deals, got a buch of sweet clothes for my boy to grow into over the next couple of years at 90% off. All licensed stuff too. A full Lightning McQueen snowsuit with accesories and a bonus car for $4, yes please!

Well, they've finally started the process here in the Okanagan, but even at the start of the second week in Kelowna it's still just 20% off of LEGO - with poor selection in general, save for some of this year's Star Wars (Geonosis, X-Wing). I'll have to see how the local one in Vernon does, I suppose.

The Zellers stores arnt actually doing the clearing out. The inventory is being sold to Liquidation stores who have control over the discounts. Most of the employee's will tell you when the store is set to close. In BC the liquidation store is basically going like this, 3 months til close 20% to 60% off. 2 months til close 30% to 60% off (toys are 30%) we have a store just about to jump into the 1 month til close and I will post what those prices are when that hits.

They did in the GTA. Cleaned out. And yeah they slowly dropped the % off rate. But all the Lego was sold out within the weeks that it was 10-20% off. By the time the toys dropped to the really good prices you could barely find even a smashed box of Mega Craps.
