Re: [USA] Mini Fig Series 2 at Target

Postby Dr. Cart » Sun Sep 05, 2010 9:52 am

I can also confirm that I found them at Target in Midlothian, VA. No restrictions on how many to buy... and $1.99!!

Had to have the Target folks run an item search (#204000360), and then get them "from the back" as they were not out yet. They were also able to confirm they had 2 cases, as did every Target within 25 miles (6 of them).

I got the 5 I didn't have for my set... and left the rest for anyone else...

Also did the search on the lego impulse sets, 4 Targets had them in the same radius, all with 30 sets each. (#204000387)

Good luck everyone.

Sadly, my local Target hasn't put out its Halloween display yet.

GIR3691...
Maybe that's a good thing. ;) Maybe that means nobody else has been able to clean them out so you'll have a chance to get what you need. :) Good luck.

GIR3691....

Ask cust service if they are in the back. If they are they will bring out a fresh unopened box. Was able to get a complete set that way. Check quickly however, if TRU sells out in one day at $2.99, imagine how fast they will go at $1.99.

I wondered with Series 1 if each box might be laid out exactly the same but I didn't get a chance to open any sealed boxes. So far with Series 2 I've opened 6 sealed boxes and wrote down how the minifigures were distributed within each row. All 6 boxes were different and there didn't appear to be any pattern to it. For example, in one box all 3 Spartans were in the front 10 packages of the left row, but in another all 3 were consecutive in the middle row. The only thing I did notice was that out of all 6 boxes, only 1 single Spartan was ever in the right row.

From what I hear, in Series 1 every box WAS packed exactly the same. But really the grouping is the problem, not the exact position in the box. There is NO WAY you should be ordering 16 and only getting 8 different figs. That's just stupid, and it is the direct result of the ridiculous "clump" distribution within the boxes. If you aren't going to truly randomize them, then at least deliberately break up the clumps. Even if the clumps are no longer in the same position in each box, it is still unlike anything I have personally experienced with any other blind-packaged collectible item (though admittedly my experience in buying whole boxes is limited mostly to cards).

I got my order of 16 in and couldn't have gotten much worse of an assortment in my opinion.

0 Spartan
0 karate Guy
0 patrol officer
0 weight lifter
2 surfer
0 pop singer
0 disco dancer
0 mime
4 witch
0 mexican
4 ringmaster
0 vampire
1 explorer
5 lifeguard
0 pharoh

That's right, 5 unique figures. And I thought I was unhappy about my series 1 order of 5 (2 magicians, 2 crash test dummies, and 1 spaceman).

Thanks for the heads up about Target. I was able to get a complete set of 16 by going there and at a price of $1.99 each. I think they had around 2 cases worth of figures stuffed on the shelf.

I just checked my Target and they don't even have a Halloween section out yet. I hope to find some there.

My local Target is doing a reset and doesn't have a Halloween section yet. I'll get the ones I want eventually though.

It's nice living in Chicago. I have 3 Lego stores within about 45 mins drive in any direction, plus Legoland Discovery Center too.

Anyway, Lego stores sold out, but Legoland had mountains of the things. Luckily I remembered my discount card, so I got them for like $1.80 + tax each, which was nice. They had all of them except the Spartan. Apparently some group of guys had been coming in every day for a week and buying up every Spartan from every box, even all the boxes out back - the staff at Legoland had sat there and found all the Spartans for them!

After a lengthy struggle, I finally found some Series 2 minifigs at Target! I had to go to two stores, since the first store's Guest Services employee was too lazy to get someone to take the boxes out of the stockroom. But my favorite Target went through for me again, as they brought out two new, unopened boxes for me to peruse when I asked them if they had any in stock! I did have to wait for half an hour for them to come to the Guest Services desk, but when they did, I had a fun 20 minutes of searching for the minifigs I wanted. I ended up getting one complete set and three extra Spartans. XD

I still have to find a way to get the Series 1 minifigs, though. I think I'll have to buy them on BrickLink in the future...

I can confirm what others are saying as well. Went by my local target (Palmdale) and asked one of the stockmen to look for them in the back, out she came with 2 new unopened boxes. I went through one box and got a complete set, plus a couple extra (I didn't clean em out). They still had a whole unopened box there, plus a good 40 in the other box.

I went back after doing some shopping and they had jammed the box behind the racers and atlantis impulse sets...

Found them @ Target and after a lengthy trial and error with the barcodes got all of them. I had someone get them from the back and then I felt like an idiot standing there for a long time checking barcodes.......

Went to Target across the road from my apartment today. 2 boxes on shelf, looked full. I got 5 Spartans, plus some others I wanted doubles of. So glad I didn't buy a Spartan off eBay!

How many Spartans per box? These look like new boxes, so I'm guessing 3 per box?

When I got them to check stock, they said there was 111 figs in the store - which would be the 2 boxes I found. Woman at guest services said she'd be happy to scan all the new figs that came in for me to find all the ones I wanted
