this thread makes me sad to live beyond the north border

Canada has expensive lego with high prices and taxes. Sales were never something like Target and Toysrus Buy 2 get 1 free and rarely were they 30+ percent off. The best we get is Buy 1 get 1 1/2 price from Zellers.

But we do have one tiny clearance and thats in toysrus. Half price on all seasonal mini sets like the Santa Claus, Snowman and Christmas tree. They are now $2.48 each marked down from $4.99.

Not sure if this should be posted in this thread or not...
Today I went to TRU and this week only they have 3 sets at 33% off (Wind Turbine Transport, Farm, and Single Drum Roller ) and 1 set at 50% off (6192 Pirate) - according to signage on the shelves. There may be other sets also on sale, but the store was so cleaned out that they might not have bothered to put a sale sign up.

Also, an odd find that may be unique to just one store (YMMV). A local UT Wal-Mart was already clearancing the new 7642 Garage (it was around $69). I won't be interested in that set until it's down to about $20.

My Target stores hit 50% on Wednesday. Pickings weren't as slim as expected. Found some attack shuttles half off. Everything else was space police, power miners and some great city sets like the construction site. Walmarts have no new discounts but still have stock ranging from 30% to 50%.

Target: 7673 Magnaguard Starfighter 50% off (someone hid it in the action figure aisle). Also found the 3 SW holiday minis (8028, 8031, 8033). They were unscannable on the store price scanner and at the cashier they rang up as "Holiday LEGO" without a price in the system. This store had already blown out all its holiday merchandise at 90% off so the cashier just let me have them for 25 cents each!

The Real Canadian Wholesale Club in Vernon, BC (or whatever it is; some sort of low-rent verison of Superstore/Loblaws in British Columbia) had its holiday stock on for 50% off MSRP. I picked up the Separatist Shuttle for $20 CDN and the Fire Truck with the little boat trailer for $15, and for my cousin who's out of town, the Gold Heist Space Police III for $12.50, the orange garbage truck for $10, and the pink block box for $10.

Also there: Alliance Tank Droid for $15 (only a couple), the Power Miners Crystal King thing, the Tow Truck for $9, the sports car for $6.50, and some Duplo stuff. There may have been something else, but I forget now.

WOW alliance tank droid for $15 and shuttle for $20 is a good deal. Too bad i'm a bit too busy these days and don't have the time to stop by.

Which Aldi in MD was it? Myself, I've been to 3 Aldi stores in Northern VA, and have had no luck finding 8014's at any of them...

On Monday Jan. 11th I picked up the Creator 6752 Fire Rescue for $40, was regular $59.99 from Wal-Mart.
They only had 1 and found it in the clearance aisle next to the toy aisles.

Doesn't help us much without a location. The only clearance sets any of my local Walmarts in Gardner, and Olathe KS have had is the City Dozer 7685.

MisterFubar, you are in KC I take it? I am on the MO side of KC what a small world. Anyway, this is info that will help you. I went through Ottawa a couple of weeks ago and they had tons of stuff on sale at the Walmart there. They had the whole Indiana Jones line and some City and Star Wars sets mostly half off. They had the AT TE for $44, and they had 4 of them then. I hope this helps .

The one on 900 E. and about 4700 S. (across from K-Mart). Its a smaller store so they usually blow out alot of sets after the holidays to clear shelf space. Their toy section is only about 4 aisles. It might all be gone by now, I only picked up the single King's Castle (probably a random return from a purchase last year) and the Creator Highway Transport. Good luck and happy hunting!
