walmart clearance

Postby Joxer the Mighty » Thu Dec 26, 2013 2:55 pm

Did anyone else go to Wal-Marts today in search of clearance Lego? If so, please let me know how it went. I went to 5 different stores with TERRIBLE results. I only found one set on clearance 9525 pre vizsla's fighter for 20 at one store, 30 at another, and regular price at the other 3. The selection was pretty bad, but usually I will still find sets at 50%off. I scanned a lot and nothing was on sale.

I found nothing worth mentioning. They had the Pre Vizsla ship marked clearance at $49.97. Another had some Space sets from 20-30% off. And the Silver Mine was marked to $52. And that was it.

My Walmart clearance sucks too, they are almost always just clearance by -.97 cents... My walmart's toy section is also really crappy. Vacaville, Walmart, Don't waste your time...

Truth. I lived in Vacaville from 2005-2012 and only ever found one decent set on clearance and that was a fluke.

Similar disappointing finds in Colorado, even the polybags in the seasonal bins were full price.

Pretty off topic, but since we're talking Vacaville, I picked up a Republic Strike Fighter set at the Vacaville Walmart for $24 in August. They had quite a few others at that time too.

I visited WM in Henderson, NV. There were no deals to be had at all.

This was probably more of a fluke than regular clearance. I found a Luke's Landspeeder set, which was a WM exclusive in 2011 (?) for $17 in Wyoming. I hadn't seen one of those sets at this particular WM for at least 6 months, but one showed up and in excellent condition.

This sounds like a post Christmas situation I've often run into in other stores. I think they get items returned to the store that were never stocked at that location, or items are purchased much earlier in the year that come back. It seems that most retailers have pretty generous return policies at that time.

The neat thing is that you can sometimes find Lego that was discontinued or clearanced off the shelves months earlier. :)

Hit the jackpot today! My walmart had marked a bunch of sets at ~66% off early this month but nothing was a must have. I went by on my lunch break and found these sets.

Republic Gunship 75021 for $39, previously $79 on clearance.
A-Wing 75003‎ for $8, previously $17 on clearance.
4x4 & Diving Boat 60012 for $6, previously $13 on clearance.

There were lots of Castle and Galaxy Squad sets left. They had 2 more Gunships and another A-Wing, I thought about buying and flipping the first but the thought of high shipping prices made me change my mind. I almost got a 2nd A-Wing to make a blue or green build but figured someone else might want it for their kid.

They also had a Sith Fury-class Interceptor 9500 that was at $49, I might get that if they mark it down half off like the rest of the clearance sets.

Stopped off at the WM in Evanston, WY on Friday afternoon. They had several Corporate Alliance Tank Droid sets for $13 on clearance. Looks like there are some Chima sets on clearance as well.
