Position of logo on Vol. 2 vintage spacemen

The classic spacemen of the 1970's and 80's had the space logo printed (or stickered) on their chest, ie. at the upper end of the torso. The red spaceman in Vintage Minifigure Collection Vol. 1 was a faithful reproduction, ignoring the new helmet for which there is an acceptable explanation.

Vintage Minifigure Collection Vol. 2 contains two spacemen, white and black. Both have the space logo printing centered on their torso.

What is the reason for this change which makes the figures look weird (and less authentic)? Does it make production easier or cheaper, or did somebody simply goof up and it was too late to change?

The eyeballs are also larger for the vintage 2 spacemen. Seem like they are on drugs or something. Definitely worse than vintage 1.

OK, that's just weird. It's feeling like someone went out of their way to make those unsettling.

Eyeballs used to be larger on early minifigures. I do agree that the space logo is too low on the torsos. In addition, the color of the red spaceman's helmet is considerably different from the torso (in my copy).

Now that you mention it, the re-positioned logo and drugged-out eyes look wrong and creepy, respectively. D'oh.
