Lego vehicles, room for one more?

I wonder sometimes when I look at Lego vehicle designs why they usually allow for one person in the drivers seat instead of having room for two?

I've been saying it for ages!

For the record, we do have the large helicopters and the large jet planes, and even this 2-seater jeep piece...

...all of which also serve to irk me, because they show how possible and dare-I-say easy it would be for the LEGO company to do it for all sets, across the board.

In the end, the simplest answer is best: it's about cutting costs, getting the most visual impact for the fewest number of bricks. We who prefer differently can buy more bricks and build our own. *sigh*
