Collectable Minifigures Series 9

Though we don't cover them in detail on FBTB, we all still love our Castle, Pirates, and Space LEGO too.

Postby jclusman » Mon Oct 29, 2012 6:07 pm

Here seems to be the list of the upcoming minifigures to be released in January 2013. I pulled it from Toys N Bricks.

71000 Minifigures Series 9

•Chicken Suit Guy
•Maid Marion
•Heroic Knight
•Cyclops
•Mermaid
•Fortune Teller
•Dr. Splitz
•Roller Derby Girl
•Judge
•Battle Mech
•Caesar
•Downtown Cop
•Plumber
•Waiter
•Hollywood Starlet

Can't wait to see photos!

Interesting. So the things that occur to me upon reading this list are:

Who the heck is Dr. Splitz?

I assume we will be getting roller skates similar to the ice skates we've already gotten.

Will the Judge have robes identical to the Graduate?

A minifig Battle Mech? Huh? I thought a mech was a robot with an operator inside?

Cloth Toga, or printed on Caesar?

Special plunger piece, or built from a short rod and a red dish?

Maybe the Gorilla Suit Man returns in reddish-brown? (with short legs, I would imagine)

One theory floating around other LEGO boards is that Dr Splitz is a Dr Jeckyl/Mr Hyde kind of guy.
There are 10 kinds of people in the world, those who can understand binary, and those that can't.

It's worth looking at the article on Series 9 (and the discussion that follows) on the home page at http://www.brickset.com.

The picture clearly has a "Dr Jekyll-and-Mr Hyde"-type character, which would seem to fit with "Dr Splitz." the other thing that is of interest is the links in a comment (about half-way down the thread) that show some of the original artwork for the proposed design concepts for the collectible minifigures series — and it's amazing just how many of those concepts have already been made too! Incidentally, the Caesar in that list is in armour rather than in the classical senatorial toga.

Definitely worth a look!

Allegedly...still no concrete evidence that it's a CM Series 9 fig, but doesn't seem to be too much of a long-shot.

This picture was actually taken from a video put on Youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... qvqEZf5La4

The guy in question also made a video showing it assembled:

My question:

Why oh why do guys who seem to know squat about shooting a video or a taking a decent picture always get exclusives like that? (assuming this is the real deal, of course)

He's related to someone that works at Lego and gets his hands on them through family.
eBay store, contact me if you'd like to perform trades from my inventory. I'm looking for original genosian fighers, second version a-wing fighters and tie bombers. I may be interested in other sets so let me know what you have.

Since I hadn't seen anybody mention it, I thought I'd say I found these in Fred Meyer yesterday. $3 apiece, but there is a 10% off Home coupon which is better than nothing...

Finally, woo! I've been checking weekly. Went in today and grabbed what I wanted for now. Ended up getting 3 of the new superhero sets with the B2G1 sale, as well. They were quite well stocked.

Found these at a Toys'R'Us in Texas for 3.19 a piece. I spent a good hour or so going through all of them trying to get all sixteen. I messed up and didn't get the Chicken man or the Plumber. I'll head back this weekend and try again.
