[NEW STUFF] - Adventurers: Pharao's Quest

Though we don't cover them in detail on FBTB, we all still love our Castle, Pirates, and Space LEGO too.

I love Lego humor: the mummy with the rubber duckie shower curtain is hilarious

And the other mummy is ironing his mummy wraps!

The line does look good - I particularly like the small motorcycle set, and the biplane set with flying mummies.

For what it's worth, went looking for the 1/2 price TIE Defender at TRU this weekend and saw that they had a couple of the Pharaoh's Quest sets on the shelf.

I also spotted these sets at my local Toys R Us.

I took pictures with my cellphones (because I know you guys need visual proof all the time). I will post them later on (I'll have to figure out how to transfer them to my computer first...).

EDIT:
OK, here are the pictures I took at my local Toys R Us this past Sunday:

Has anyone seen this set yet? When it is finally available (the others are available on S@H now, by the way) I will probably buy several.

wow nice little find, would be a complete win if it also had the anubis head. I love these sets, they do however seem to be missing a little bit that the adventurerer lines had with Johnny Storm... can't quite put my finger on it though

AKA Johnny Thunder. Well, he's still there in a way. He just lost his hat, shaved his mustache and changed his name:

Meet Jake Raines

When I saw him on the box, I was sure it was a new version of Johnny. But apparently, it isn't.

Not sure if I saw it mentioned here but even though the signs say 'no pharaoh's quest' on the bogo sale, I found their system will still ring it up as such at the register. ;)

Pharaoh's Quest

Postby Jedd the Jedi » Wed Jan 19, 2011 10:33 pm

Hey everyone, couldn't find an existing thread so I thought I'd start one for this new LEGO theme. It's pretty much old news that LEGO recycles themes every so often: Pharaoh's Quest for Adventurers/Indiana Jones, Ninjago for Ninja, and there's always bound to be at least one city, space and racecar theme on at any given time.

It's always nice to see a new theme with a bit of a classic twist, but I have to say LEGO really looks like they sold out on this one. Combining an Egypt exploration theme with a robot one may have sounded like a good idea to the LEGO execs and sure, it hasn't been done before, but I've never seen a worst mismarriage of LEGO themes since the time-traveller line in the 90s. The minifigs look great, and I probably will get some of the non-robot-centred sets (especially for vehicles such as the biplane and motorbike) but on the whole I'm really not sure what they're aiming at, and if this means the death knell for the Indiana Jones line. If that were the case, it wouldn't hurt to bring the Adventurer's back with a different setting.

I don't think there are any robots in this series.
